Default 1LT rear view mirror solution?

I have a deposit on a C8 and really would like a stripped down version, but after watching multiple reviews, I don't think that the standard rear view mirror offers an acceptable field of vision. I know that I can just spring for the 2LT package, but I really don't need/care for all of the other stuff and buying an HTC is nearly the same cost. Has anyone come up with a suitable solution for the 1LT mirror?

I wouldn't buy trouble, there are so many stupid complaints you couldn't list them all. I own a 1LT and it has been 100% fine, I too come from 35 years of motorcycling experience. I have also driven a C8 with the 2LT/3LT rear view mirror and it just isn't a big deal at all. I have no blind spots once the side view mirrors are adjusted correctly. I say see for yourself before buying into a bunch of internet ignorance.

Zedder,
Have a 1LT and i find the rear view mirror adequate in conjunction with side mirrors ( which i adjust both l & R outward ) in turn alleviates blindspots drastically but not entirely. No snow most of Arizona , so no buildup on deck glass hindering clear vision . If thats one of your main concerns, maybe upgrading would help ?

Thanks Ironking. It would be a summer car only, so maybe it would be OK. I ride motorcycles, so I am accustomed to turning my head for lane changes etc. It's just that the reviews on-line totally trash the 1lt camera, so it has made me a little cautious.

Tadi Brothers has an electronic mirror (TV monitor) / rear facing camera solution that transmits a signal to the mirror while driving forward. The problem is that the camera is mounted at the top of the rear license plate.
This one is on while driving forward. https://www.tadibrothers.com/product...-backup-camera
The other thing you have to do, 2LT / 3LT included, is to adjust your side mirrors to eliminate blind spots.

I have a 1LT also - did not want any of the extra stuff. I have no problem with rear view vision. As said the key is to properly adjust your mirrors. Chevrolet did a very nice job in designing the mirror size and shape. There is not a blind spot on the drivers side, you can look over your shoulder if needed. The only real concern is the right rear quarter from 2 lanes over, I can see the lane next to me fine.

I've had my 1LT for 6000kms now and never once had a problem with blind spots.

If you adjust all the mirrors properly you will be 100% fine. The C8 is actually better to change lanes in than my previous Dodge Challenger.

4,000 miles on my 1LT. The mirror/vision is a non issue IMO. Proper side view mirror adjustment and driver attentiveness is all you need.

There are more safety features on a 2LT than just a mirror and you won't need any of them most of the time until you do. And I've ridden motorcycles for over 50 years and there are no blind spots on a bike.

For me, the camera mirror is a bit troublesome. I am farsighted and find it impossible to focus on the screen, though I can see the dash and infotainment screens clearly. I don't generally speed, but picking out an approaching police car from the rear is not possible. I also have trouble determining how close other cars are to my rear bumper. I don't have these issues with my daily driver. I suspect I will have to invest in some prescription driving glasses to help my situation, but as others have said, the view from the side mirrors is excellent. That being said I would get the 2LT package again, but not for the camera mirror alone.

I’m just gonna use the proper mirror positioning method on my 1LT but am gonna consider this. It’s not a mirror but should more than suffice for what you need it to do plus looks like a pretty non intrusive installation. I’m thinking prb $200ish for the install. All in $500 isn’t bad. I decided not to pay for the extra fluff w 2LT either.

If you like top down motoring then buy the c8 retractable hardtop as in 1LT trim comes with that camera mirror you think you want...

that roof laying ontop of engine bay instead of trunk leaves the rear trunk space for food shopping or golf clubs...

plus with the rear window down you might be able to hear the engine more with the roof up.

the worries and concerns with the 1LT targa is overblown by those who want luxury items etc...

which is cool if you do....took maybe a week to get used to the c8 ...compared to orevious corvettes ...now everything is second nature,

buy the 1LT with confidence yet that retractable hardtop does offer a 1LT and that rearview camera mirror....and that power top leaving trunk space available will come in handy.

my recommendation is a 1Lt convertible,

Get the bifocal portion of your eyeglasses on both the top and the bottom of the eyewear. This is not unusual because electricians do this to make working from a ladder better.

Agree, and as many have mentioned if you are wearing glasses, becomes difficult to utilize as you have to refocus before anything can be seen.... but if you are concerned, you're just a click away from plenty of options that have the added ability to record front and back views (and playback with GPS info). Just search (amazon or ?) "rear view mirror dashcams"

May tackle this for a winter project.

I had a 2020 1LT, sold it, have a 2021 1LT on order. Adjust your mirrors properly and no issues!

I have a 2LT HTC but I never use the Rear Camera Mirror. I don't like it and find the vision with the normal mirror on HTC to be just fine.
