I wouldn't own one without it. Tour mode bumpy roads, sport good daily feel, and track mode for when you have a nice spirited drive. It's nice to be able to choose the setup of the car. The technology is what makes this car.
There is a noticeable difference between the 3 different settings. If you don't mind a firmer ride all the time you will be OK without it. But if you like to be able to soften up the ride for touring then it is definitely worth it.
I wouldn't have a Z51 without it.

i have a 2014 z51 c7 and driving on even slightly irregular surfaces becomes torture after only a short period of time. is it possible to retrofit the MRC shocks?

I have Z51 without Magride and it rides beautifully. I've had magride in several previous Corvettes and found myself running around in Track mode or Sport mode most of the time. I like a firm ride but this C8, Z51 without magride rides smoother than my C7 Z06 (all had magride) in Touring. It all depends on what you like.

I plan to order it even without the Z51. It's not that I pland to be changing it all the time, but it's about the configureablity of the car to make it mine.
Most important option IMHO. It is a night and day difference. It is amazing how my Z51 can feel like a Cadillac and go to a go cart in Track mode. I would pay double the price for it. It is a complete bargain when you think about all that goes into it. Just think there is a reason Ferrari and others bought the technology from GM. I always laugh when people criticize Chevrolet etc and praise Ferrari etc. Gm Engineers are so ahead of their time and it amazes me.

The config is absolutely atrocious when you ask for more information about this feature. I am a first time Corvette owner and did not even know about this forum when i ordered (wish i had, but maybe not ) my Game changer. I purchased it on specs alone. GM led me to believe that this feature was for track use only so i did not order it. After joining this forum, I was apprehensive I may have to cnx my order and be extremely disappointed after the soft to hard of the various models and modes.
Long story short, I was given assurances that a Z51 FE3 is just fine. I can equivocally say, they were correct. I've ridden in prior corvettes and their ride is like a train wheel without a suspension - horribly hard. The C8 with the Z51 and "only" a FE3 is just wonderful. Bad pothole, bumpy roads are not smooth by any means, but they are acceptable. Regular decent roads are a dream. This is your choice. The FE4 will be even smoother, but not required to have a great ride.
This question comes up all the time..... the non-MSRC suspension settings on the Corvette are perfectly fine, but MSRC is one of the most significant suspension technologies we have..... even Ferrari has licensed it.... and the kicker is....
ITS ILLEGAL IN FORMULA ONE!!!.....
and you know, anything that actually increases performance is...
"ILLEGAL IN FORMULA ONE!!!
What more credible evidence do you have to have of its efficacy than it being ruled

This is what I have read about Mag Ride & non Mag Ride, going from smoothest to stiffest ride.
Non Z51 car, softest ride
Z51 car with MRC set to Touring
Z51 car without MRC
All cars, Sports mode
All cars, Track mode, stiffest ride
I’d buy it before the z51 option but it really imho gives you 2 choices.....tour or sport. Track is only for track.....too much risk of damaged wheels on the street. So base suspension gives you sport, non z51 tires might be a tad smoother ride?
Another factor IF this is a keeper car...someday more money to replace.
Look, you can get used to anything. Just look at the people that drive on slammed Civics, bouncing down the road.
Will you hate a Z51 without MRC? Probably not. You will get used to it, and it's a fine suspension anyway.
If you have the money get MRC. The shocks aren't that expensive, ($300 each), and the car is under warranty for the next 3 years anyway.
I wouldn't buy a Corvette without it. (it's good enough that Ferrari licensed the tech to use on all there cars.) (I also wouldn't consider a used Vette without it...)
I have had a interesting experience with my Z51 Mag ride HTC. When set in tour mode, and using launch control I get wheel hop. I have to use Track Mode to not get Wheel Hop. Now does this mean the non Mag Ride cars will wheel hop I don't know..

Sooooo explain how you got in launch control in "Tour" mode 🤔? You need to be in Sport/Competitive Driving or Track/PTM
