Default Octane Booster

We only have 91 octane fuel in my state. Looking for advice on octane booster necessity and brands.

The car still runs great on 91 octane even at high speeds in hot temperatures. I wouldn't waste your money on a booster.

What state are you in? More importantly, at what altitude? Octane requirements drop at higher altitudes, because the lower air pressure effectively reduces compression in the cylinder. But as mooofoo says, the car runs fine on 91. Thousands of C8s are driving around California on nothing but 91.

My 2022 Owner's Manual, page 224, says recommended fuel is Top Tier, 91 octane minimum.

So you should be fine.

Also, check with your local BP stations. In my state, we have 91 octane throughout the state except a lot of BP stations have 93 octane.

If you decide to use an octane booster be careful which one you choose. Many octane boosters contain MMT or other metals. The owner's manual has a specific warning to not use fuel that contains MMT or other metals.

Interesting. I wonder if the change to the fuel injection system for 2022 is behind the recommendation difference, or if they just decided to change the words.

I'm curious also. My understanding is that the LT2 SAE rated horsepower was obtained using 93 octane. I wonder if 93 octane is required to get the rated horsepower under some circumstances.

I suspect it is mainly due to elevation as earlier stated.
