Default Do You Scrape with No Front Lift?

Question for owners of C8 cars that did not order the Front Lift Option: Do you now regret not having ordered the Front Lift option?

I used to own a 911 GTS, with the Aero Kit and I do remember scraping the bottom of the front lip on an occasional basis, and it was not cheap to replace. I am ordering my new C8 and trying to determine if I want to spend $2260 for the Front Lift option (I would rather spend it on other options!).

Note: I am ordering the car with the High Rear Spoiler and no front splitter. I have heard the Front Splitter reduces the ground clearance from 6" to 5", so I am not going to order that front splitter. I am hoping the 6" ground clearance may keep me out of trouble, especially given how far forward the front wheels are on the new C8.

Any feedback from owners with no Front Lift, and no Front Splitter is appreciated!

Thanks.

I’ve only had mine for a week and have the front splitter but no lift with no scrapes yet. Numerous speed bumps and in and out of a few parking lots that concerned me but fortunately, no problems yet

I didn't have a problem with my C7 Z51 so I did not order the front lift on my C8 Z51 since it has a better approach angle than the C7.

Approach angles:
Base / no E60 11.8 degrees
Base with E60 14.2 degrees
Z51 / no E60 = 9.8 degrees
Z51 with E60 = 11.1 degrees

The C7 was 9 degrees.

Front lift is just not necessary on this car at stock height. It sits so high. Honestly too high, but that's a different conversation.

I don't have the lift and after 12,600 miles, I do not regret not getting it. I have a non-Z51 car. I've scraped a few times in odds spots on road trips, but it's to the unseen black plastic pieces of the car.

I see the value of it to many people, but to me, the extra cost, complexity, and weight was not worth it to me.

If I ordered a Z51, I would certainly have ordered it because of the front splitter.

Well I did not have lift on my 2020 and I scraped just leaving my driveway. It was a Z51 car and regretted not having the lift. I think it all depends on where you live and the regular use of streets in your area. My '22 will have the lift and is not a Z51 car. It also has the low rear wing and front splitter. I will feel much better having the option when the time is needed.

Default Just the facts ma'am.......

Our base suspension HTC does not scrape on our driveway. Our C6/7s did. Passing on Lift saved us 2 grand not getting it. Plus one or more trips to the service drive. Still apparent issues with Lift? The reservoir cap has been replaced. And some blame overfilling from the factory. Dunno? Didn't think we needed it. Right decision for us.

Default no regrets

Six months, 7500 miles. No regrets about my 1LT (LT1?) purchase. I might have scraped something underneath once or twice but can't see anything from any normal height. I have taken care, though.

The additional $2k plus mechanical complexity just don't add up to sufficient value.

I scrape quite a bit, but do not regret not getting the lift. My splitter is already beat to hell, but it's a cheap fix.

I am an owner of a Z51 car WITH the front lift but without the splitter. My old C6 Grand Sport would scrape like crazy but the C8 does not. I deleted the automatic lift operation when going up my driveway since the car does not scrape even in the lowered position. My old C6 scraped on the driveway. You will be fine without the lift.

You can buy 10 replacement splitters for the cost of front lift. Not to mention the extra weight that front lift adds to the car.

I hate being the person that is worried about the angle of the entrance into parking lots, height of speed bumps, etc and goes extra slow into and out of parking lots. To me, it feel a bit pretentious and it can also be legitimately dangerous if you slow down an unnatural amount and the person behind you doesn't expect it (their fault if they hit you? For sure, but that doesn't mean it's enjoyable to deal with the aftermath). I feel much better just hitting the lift button and being less of an outlier in terms of traffic flow. Also, the area I live plays a big part, and if you don't have roads with high degrees of crowning or high lips into parking lots near you, I could see it being extraneous.

I'm glad I have it, but if I was on a stricter budget, that would probably be the first thing on the chopping block.

I was only able to put 2,200 miles on mine before it went into Winter storage, but I haven't had an issue yet. I didn't have any real issues with my C7 either after 18,000 miles. I feel the C8 is even less likely to have a problem with scraping.
Had the front lift not become so ridiculously expensive I may have considered it but when it went to 2200 bucks, I figured I could spend that on options I could enjoy.

No front lift for me and no regrets. If I’m concerned, I take the hill or dip at an angle. I predict that I will eventually scrape but I can replace the front splitter about 10 times before I match the price of the front lift.

I had my driveway modified to take out a high spot, but ALL my previous cars scrapped there. I have never had the C8 rub anywhere in the city but the streets here are pretty good.

I have the front lift and was thinking maybe it is useless since I slow down, although I did program it for a few speedbumps and driveways. Then last night, in the rain I did not see that the parking lot I was entering had a bit of a dip and screeeeeecchhh. I immediately hit the front lift button and screeching stopped and now that one is programmed in. I actually have been telling members front lift is not needed because you can just go slow but I am beginning to think its a good feature. I dont even care that the bottom gets scraped (I had an even lower SLK350 that could simply get painted) but this car has a lot of metal panelling underneath (look at oil change video to see under) and the screeeeeeeeeeeeeech is a terrible sound. Now I hit front lift button every parking lot and if there is a dip I set GPS memory and if none I do not. The button is convenient and the GPS memory button is on the steering wheel.

I have a Z51 with the 5vm front splitter and I have the lift. I can tell you that I use it all the time, I live in a very populated area with tons of speed bumps and terrible roads. I have never had it scrape yet. My C5 looked like someone took a grinder to the front under carriage. I’m surprised at the amount of people that do not have it and don’t have scrapping issues. Maybe I need to move. Lol
