My one year anniversary is 1/15/23 and the gift from GM said that date also and mentioned the Ron Fellows driving school. For $1000, is that date when I have to book it by, or when it must be completed by?

Valid one year after delivery of the C8. So you have a bit of time to schedule. But spots can go fast, so recommend locking in a date soon.
I scheduled last month and even then they were booked out to late December and January. They’ve never been booked this far out, and so they are considering extending the renewal time for the certificate. Call them up, they’ll work with you.

This.
To the OP:
Bear in mind that they shutdown in July and August. September might already be booked up. Same with any date in the fall or winter because people try to avoid the Mohave Desert summer temps. I just came back from my trip last night. Be prepared to pay a bit more than the $1000 because you might want to consider putting up a non-refundable liability waiver fee of $200 to reduce the deductible to cover any damage you might inflict on the car from $8000 to $2000. With liability waiver fee and tax, I paid $1458.
I think your best chance to grab a slot in the spring might already be lost, but early summer 2023 might be wide open. Lock in a date as soon as you can and make sure you reserve a rental car with your flight because you will need a way to get around on the Spring Mountain Resort property.

Reason: Clarification on Spring Mountain deductible
I just booked for late December. Everything up to then was already booked, BUT it depends on the level. Level 1, 2, 3 and basic have different availability.
The insurance is optional. The cars are insured by Spring Mountain, BUT there's an $8,000 deductible if you damage the car. You can reduce that deductible to $2,000 by paying $200 for the insurance. It is NOT mandatory. I've not decided on that, but probably will pony up the $200.
$1,000 fee covers Basic (Corvette Owner's School). Other levels cost more, but the cost is still reduced compared to paying full fare.

It should be fun.
I’d rather pay $2000 than $8000. Of course, you’d have to do something really stupid to damage a car during the C8 owners course, like not listening to the expert instructors which will almost always result in spending that deductible. Thank you for clarifying the point about the deductible
I recently got back and it was a great experience. I did not pay the extra to cover the car in the event of an accident. I think the chances of you wrecking one of their 160 C8's is very slim for the first 2 day class....and I was driving that car is a very aggressive manner on the track.
In some cases, it's longer than a year after taking delivery. I took delivery on 7/22/21. My certificate said that I had to take the class by 10/30/22.....I scheduled mine for September, so well beyond my one year anniversary....
They (either/both Chevy and Spring Mountain) have been very flexible with extending the validity of the certificate. I took delivery in May 2021, called in Dec 2021 and they were full till June 2022. I had to cancel the June date for personal reasons and am now going end of July 2022. Based on conversation with them, a 6 month extension is not a problem. But you certainly have to call to make this happen.

While they probably should shut down in July due to heat, this isn't true. I'm there July 10-12. I was November but they were able to move me up due to a cancelation.

If you already have car insurance, you don't need to buy their extra insurance. This is just a money grab, just like when enterprise car rental tries to get you to sign up for their extra insurance.
Check your insurance policy, but more than likely you're covered with your own deductible and own policy, not theirs. And if you smash or damaged one of their corvettes up, you're an idiot, and you should probably sell yours when you get back home. It is pretty hard to damage one on their race track, unless you're just a really reckless driver. But they did let us Z06 owners to try and do donuts on wet pavement.

I dont know of any standard auto policy that covers crashing a car on a track.

I didn't say standard policy, I said check your policy first. Ive been through this before. I denied enterprises insurance coverage, and they tried to bill me for a chip in the windshield, and wanted $800. Yes, $800 for a chip. I used my progressive policy and only paid my deductible of $50.
Again, if you wreck one of Ron Fellows Vettes, you deserve to lose your own corvette. Only thing you can really hit on the race track are the tire barriers, and/or another slow *** driver in front of you. When I went, back in 2017 they told the group that their biggest claim ever on track was $2000 in damage at that current time. Everything else was very minor damages..
They said the same to me when I paid the extra insurance for deductible. Then in another thread several people reported doing or seeing others do way more than 2k damage while there.
You're not covered by another policy on track, up to you how much financial risk you're willing to expose yourself too. **** happens. I almost burned down my tenants house yesterday, if not for insurance that might have been a $30k bill. I'll throw away a couple hundred $$$ that's probably not needed at spring mountain just in case Murphy is around. I've never been there, I have no clue what the situation is. I'll push myself harder with less risk exposure which is the whole point, finding the limits.
