I am from east coast where 90 and humid happens regularly. I find the temps ok.
it was 95 7/4. Yes, the sun hits hard but the light breeze made the shade areas fine. We had wine on an outside patio and thought nothing of it.
you will have a/c on in the car most if not all of the time. Don’t let the time of year bother you unless you take your significant other and they want to go out and about.
btw my wife is here and agreed that it isn’t a big factor.
we are not in the same age group as the typical Vette owner though fwiw

You're not covered by another policy on track, up to you how much financial risk you're willing to expose yourself too. **** happens. I almost burned down my tenants house yesterday, if not for insurance that might have been a $30k bill. I'll throw away a couple hundred $$$ that's probably not needed at spring mountain just in case Murphy is around. I've never been there, I have no clue what the situation is. I'll push myself harder with less risk exposure which is the whole point, finding the limits.
I disagree that you're not covered under your own policy on the track, or anywhere. Car insurance laws are different in every state. I am in a no fault state. What is Nevada?
I have clauses that I pay extra for, 100% Medical, and work loss if I get in a car accident and can't work. I was told many, many years ago, to always deny extra insurance coverage. There is no need for it, as long as you have your own policy. Again, best to check with whoever you are insured through.

There wasn't a single person in our group that lost control of the car, or hit something. The only thing you have to be worried about is the slow *** driver in front of you. After the first day, they broke the groups up for the 2nd day. They put the faster drivers in one group, and the grandpa/Sunday drivers in the other. The car is made for ***** out, drive the hell out of it, rag on it, and have some fun. Anyone can drive fast, it is totally different trying to race and get a feel for when to break, when to start turning, etc. It was a humbling experience. The pace car helps all the drivers. They even knew when I missed a gear believe it or not. If I remember, they only allow 5-6 drivers on the track at one time, plus the pace car. After doing the 5 race laps, I was exhausted. Imagine doing a 500 mile race. I probably wouldn't make it.

I might have gotten the timeframe wrong. I know they shut down for a while during the summer due to the heat. I heard this from Rick himself when I was there 27-29 June.

There are no times of the year where Spring Mountain "takes off" or schedules not to have classes. They only take off a day or two around holidays otherwise they run full speed ahead every week all year round. (unless there is something like COVID rules that prevent it of course). They are really busy, so be sure to get in the que as soon as possible!

waaaay back in the day, (1998-2003) before we were the Ron Fellows PDS, we used to shut down in the summer, as we weren't able to run those cars in the July/august heat...more recently, especially with c8, we can run the A/C full blast without issues. Rick may have been talking about c6/c7 generations, where in the summer we would limit the classes due to many reasons, including doing repaving of tracks, new buildings, and such...at the beginning of the pandemic, we were non-essential, so for about a month in April 2020, we were idle...
As far as extensions, it depends on the circumstances. We do not guarantee everyone will be approved..
hope this helps!
Cheers!

I was there for the 9th and 10th. It was definitely hot today, saw 109 in the car before the last track session but it was still great fun. Sweated a little but with the AC in the car it wasn’t an issue.

My wife and I just returned from Spring Mountain. Temps for the two days average 104. That being said, you will not be outside in the sun. They give you a water botttle, refills, snacks etc. You run the a/c 100% of the time. Be prepared for the dry air. Your nose will quickly dry out. You will enjoy the class.

I’ve done the course 3 times. The first two I bought the insurance, the last time I didn’t. With the beginner/owner’s course it is all very controlled. The instructors are great and will allow you room to run, but are very quick to reel you back in. You would have to be really not listening to them on and off track and /or just doubt something really knuckle headed to cause significant damage to a car. That being said, the last time I went we did have a younger guy run off track. He was in the fast group with me and got a little overconfident coming into the braking zone. Shook him up pretty good to the point that he didn’t run the last session. But even then I don’t believe there was any major damage. Regardless of what you decide to do with the insurance, your going to LOVE the experience!

They require the pdr to be running all the time so if something happens there's a record for the insurance company. I'm pretty sure if it's not your fault based 9n the video and pdr data, you won't be held responsible

Bear in mind that they shutdown in July and August. September might already be booked up. Same with any date in the fall or winter because people try to avoid the Mohave Desert summer temps. I just came back from my trip last night. Be prepared to pay a bit more than the $1000 because you might want to consider putting up a non-refundable liability waiver fee of $200 to reduce the deductible to cover any damage you might inflict on the car from $8000 to $2000. With liability waiver fee and tax, I paid $1458.

I think your best chance to grab a slot in the spring might already be lost, but early summer 2023 might be wide open. Lock in a date as soon as you can and make sure you reserve a rental car with your flight because you will need a way to get around on the Spring Mountain Resort property.
I think you are wrong as far as being closed in July, as I just went 7/9-7/10/22. As far as costs, I spent 2 nights at Spring Mountain and bought the extra insurance. My total costs were $1,336.25.

anyone know of any ron fellows or spring mountain stickers available suitable for a helmet? they didn't have anything at the store (they had a track outline, but not one of the track I was on), and they gave me that giant sticker at the end. but I like adding smallish stickers to my helmet along with the annual SCCA stickers (until the helmet expires and I have to start all over).
I'm surprised spring mountain doesn't have an online shop! I figured I'd have another chance to go shopping once I was home. Oops.

Anyone scheduled for Feb 27-28, 2023? My son and I are booked for those dates. Can't wait and I think he's more excited than I am.

I already stand corrected on that point. Even the social media rep from Spring Mountain chimed in. Rick was referring to a previous timeframe before the C8. I acknowledge (again), that I misheard/misremembered what was said in this regard. Thank you.
