Splash Guards
Anybody have the Splash Guards installed? Thoughts? Are they worth it/necessary? Pics would be awesome. Just wondering if I should get them as have been driving around and feel like tires are kicking up road debris which is hitting the sides of the car.

You'll need a 7mm socket and a pair of mechanic's gloves or similar. There is a hex nut on the underneath of each existing guard that needs to be removed first. Then with the gloves on, you should be able to remove/pull the existing guard without needing a pry tool. Though using an upholstery tool is the suggested method, I like removing them by hand to protect against paint damage. Snap/pull the old ones off and then push/snap the new ones on. Replace the hex screw. You might have a metal clip come off removing the old ones. If you do, use a pair of needle nose to grasp it and pull it off. You trash them so don't worry about yanking on it. 30 minutes includes (1) explaining what your are doing to your wife (2) opening a cold beverage (3) dusting off the knees of your jeans (4) awarding yourself a congratulatory second cold one.

They do more good than you would think and are very easy to install.

We are extremely happy with the ones we installed on our '21 HTC. After 3500 miles they have done a great job keeping stones and mud from flying up on the door panels and rear fenders.

The rears are effective. Fronts not so much (really need full length side skirts- which I added to stop pebbles marking rockers.) BUT I installed GM front and rear- so they match!

I would go ahead and install them - any extra degree of protection is good to have.

Recommended. I used the GM extended ones.
For fronts turn wheels for easier removal and installation. I did need to use a plastic to snap one of the front ones off.
All 4 took about 20 minutes. Easier than the front grill guards.

are the extended ones the ones that are offered when building the car ($255)?

GM had an option for extended mud flats. I forgot the cost for that option - maybe was 255. I decided to build my car with the small standard ones. As wasn’t sure what I wanted to do from a styling viewpoint.
When got the C8, I thought the standard ones looked better, to me, than the GM extended ones.
But didn’t provide adequate protection. So ordered the GM extended ones that were on eBay from an OEM GM supplier. Cost was less than 150 delivered.
I THINK the part numbers are:
But double check with supplier if those part numbers are correct. The GM extended ones are about 1/2 wider on the bottom than the standard factories ones. I also installed PPF behind the mud flaps and the rocker areas.

highly recommend. they do a nice job at reducing (not eliminating) the amount of stuff kicked up at the car
i went with some generic brand called "bilfaro' from amazon... $100. perfect fitment, look great. had a fake carbon fiber print on them, exactly what i wanted, and cheap

GM SPLASH GUARDS ON MY C7 GRAND SPORT
If you are looking for the Splash Guards to stop pebbles from being thrown from the font tires and marking the rockers. They won't. Ordered 5VM to get side skirts to stop pebbles. They were constrained. Ordered from C7 Carbon and took about 6 weeks to arrive, In that time my rocker panels were marked by pebbles. Fortunately, the side skirts covered all marks. Now you can hear them hit the flat bottom but no marks on the car! Only ants can see those marks!

The GM splash guards are small and don't look like mud flaps. Sorry, I think it's silly to paint them. Looks worse IMO! The sides facing the wheels will look like crap in a few weeks. Best to leave them black plastic. However, to stop pebbles marking the rockers, need side skirts. Especially in rural areas like where I live.
