Convertible Use?

Burning Brakes
Well I'm waiting for my first Vert (hit 3000 last week). This will be my 5th Vett and I never liked the look of Vett's w/ ragtops so never bought one. Living in NJ, once they announced the HTC, I figured if I'm forced to go with an automatic (my other 4 were manuals), I'll go for the HTC and see how I like it. I'd rather see the sky than the engine, and be able to do so with the press of a button !!! I do really like the fact that the HTC looks great with the top up AND the utility of having the same size storage is great, you really don't give up anything short of engine visibility IMO.

To the OP:
I opted for the C8 coupe rather than the HTC based upon my use of two previous Corvette convertibles I owned (a C5 and a C6 GS, both red). In the Texas heat and the Maryland humidity, I rarely dropped the top on either car. Combine that with the fact that my wife doesn’t like the top-down convertible riding experience and it was a no-brainer that the C8 HTC would be a waste of money for me personally.
Those who have and love the HTC will obviously highly recommend you stick with it. I think the HTC is very nice and being able to lower the top at the push of a button is awesome. I don’t think you are compromising anything by getting the HTC over the coupe, even if you seldom drop the top.
Good luck 👍🏿

A 90* day where Ilive is considered a hot day...my top is down pretty much 100% of the time unless I am on the highway for an extended period of time

Thanks so much to all of you who replied to my question about convertible use! I'm one of those who will very rarely, in all likelihood, use the convertible feature...I haven't driven the car with the top down yet, and I've had the top down once within a few days of getting the car, just to verify that it works. Like many things I own, it's just knowing I have the capability that makes many things worth having. I know that won't make much, if any, sense to the die-hard convertible owners out there!

The top on ours was up and down 4 times just yesterday - all depends on the weather.

Well, I just got my HTC last week, but so far, top has been down every single day. It is currently my DD as well. I have had many targa top and T-top vettes and f-bodies in the past and I did not have the tops off of them as much as I do with the C8 HTC. I do love it, but I will have to think really hard about what to go with once it is time to spec my Z06. I think seeing the masterpiece that is the LT6 will be a must for me, but I have probably 1.5 - 2 years for the HTC to convince me otherwise.

From April to October, I have the top down 98% of the time when it’s not raining…

My 2022 HTC is the first convertible I’ve ever owned. I find myself driving with the top down anytime the outside temperature is below 90° although the sun can be quite intense in my hometown of Aurora, CO. When I took a road trip to Arizona in June, top down driving was limited to after sunset jaunts. One of the best features of the HTC is the ease and convenience of being able to raise and lower the top at anytime as long as your speed is less than 30 mph.

If I’m I’m driving locally it’s usually down if it’s sunny and at least in the 60s. It’s so so convenient with the button. Long trips I keep it up. This is not my DD, but I usually take it to work if I can put the top down.
