I have a 2023 HTC with just under 700 miles on it and I can hear what I can best describe as a "mechanical clutch" sound when the car swtiches from V8 to V4. When I hear the sound, i usually look down at the dash and can see the V8 icon change to V4.
Is this normal? do any of you hear similar?

I have a 23 HTC with 600 miles on it and I hear the same “whoosh” or “sneeze” sound. It happens when going into V4 mode or when the car is aggressively downshifting in track mode. I’m planning on installing a paragon exhaust system in the spring so I’m sure those sounds will go away after the valves are removed.

There is a distinct "clunk" as the system shuts down the 4 cylinders and the V-4 light turns on.
I spend most of my time without the radio on when I am road tripping so I have become very used to the quiet in the cabin.
I'm guessing that it is the solenoid shutting off the additional cylinders.
Never bothered me.a bit.
Absolutely LOVE driving this car.

2020, 16,000 miles, mostly highway. Stock non NPP exhaust. Don’t hear anything when switching from V8/V4/V8

I've DEFINITELY HEARD AND FELT the lugginess from V8-V4 mode in the rental C8 I had.
Looking at the dash only confirmed V4 mode..
One press on the gas, and its back in V8, but I could tell whenever it was in V4 mode 100% no question about it.

It sounds more like a soft "fwooompfffff" sort of sound to me.

It’s very subtle changing from V8 to V4 in the C8. I sometimes notice a different sound and may feel it in the engine and it doesn’t bother me at all. Most times I notice nothing and really need to look for it to notice anything.
Now my C7 was very noticeable as you would feel a sudden vibration and a significant loss of power. The transition on the C8 is pretty seamless and you don’t notice any real power loss. I think Chevy really mastered this on the C8 and now I don’t really notice anything.

2023 C8 of the Year Finalist - Modified
I only just cleared the 500 mile hurdle on my 23 C8, but I definetely hear a mild clunk when it switches from V8 to V4, not the other way around. My non-professional analysis thus far is that the noise is coming from the engine, not the transmission or the exhaust as the enginge shuts down the 4 cylinders.
I had two C7s, a Stingray and a Grand Sport and I never heard the cylinder deactivation at all. For this reason I'm going to have my Chevy Dealer check out the noise and provide some guidance. If the noise isn't a mechanical issue, it doesn't really bother me, but I would prefer it to switch over silently.
