Default Negative aspects of driving a C8 in these stressful times

In this day of the eco and social warrior has driving a Corvette brought undue attention? Do you feel that more drivers react negatively, either acting offensively or driving aggressively? Is this a car for someone who doesn't want attention? What extra precautions do you take while driving the C8 and are there times when you would rather avoid the hassle?

Hmm, must live around Hollywood! Where I am in NE SC most folks drive Pick-Ups and SUVs. Heck their MPG are worse than the C8! They sure know their mileage is poor every time they fill up! Not many EV's around here! And most are also smart enough to know there is no free lunch and they are paying the electric power companies to charge electric cars and that produces CO2.

SIDEBAR
Many also understand it's more a political game to stop the pipeline getting oil from Canada down to the Gulf coast refineries and discouraging/blocking fracking that could be supplying some of the 100+ year supply of Natural Gas we have to the World where it's badly needed! (BTW Natural Gas produces half the CO2 as coal per BTU. In the US we're now <20% coal and quickly switching to Natural Gas to produce electric power)

Some of us also understand our foolish energy policy versus all the above, being energy independent and exporting Natural Gas where it's needed that we are hurting the World!

Just came back from a Viking River Cruise in Eastern Europe. Visted Romania, Bulgaria (where the average annual salary is $6000/year and no way can they afford EVs) to
Serbia (where we visited a home in rural area where Natural Gas more than tripled in price and they can't afford to heat their home this winter so have large piles of wood, a big CO2 producer, outside the house, like all their neighbors) Croatia and Hungary.

Prior to the Pandemic went on a Viking Ocean Cruise to SE Asia. They are in worse shape to afford EV's and use much higher CO2 generating energy sources (coal) to produce electric power and power their vehicles!
IF someone questions my Vette I tell them how foolish we are to think forcing our US vehicles to EVs to eliminate the World's CO2 emissions is like pissing in the Ocean!

Don't buy a C8 if you don't like attention. 90% of the attention is positive, 9% is people being bad drivers in your vicinity and 1% is bad attention. Positive experience is people asking about the car, asking to rev up, asking about you (and why youre "rich"). For the bad drivers I find the biggest problem is that they love hanging out in your blind spot and I have to assume they're gawking. It doesn't happen when I'm out in my corolla so I can't imagine it's anything else. For the 1%, I've had an imminent threat of the car being stolen but thankfully they couldn't seem to figure out the door "handle". Always stay strapped friendo.

I couldn’t care less what others think about my C8. I guess if you don’t want attention then maybe you should drive a Prius.
The only precautions I take when driving is I keep my eyes on the road and try to avoid hitting anything.

Exactly 👍🏻. I think I get more attention in my truck here in Oregon. The C8 is just another sports car here.

Not really interested in what others think either my concern is negative experiences that might be attributed to driving a C8. The kind of experience that might interfere with one's normally jovial and upbeat disposition.

I've got a few corvettes with a C8 stingray being one of them. I do not daily drive them but when I am behind the wheel of one of my toys I am more times than not being tailgated or challenged to race at stoplights. It gets old pretty quick because I will never race any of these idiots on a public road especially with other cars travelling around us.

I will never forget the look on a Vette owners face when I pulled next to him at a stoplight. He looked beleaguered as he looked at me not knowing what to expect. I liked his car but wondered if it was worth it.

I’ve only had mine since August and have had no negatives from people. Just lots of thumbs up and smiles. In reality it’s just an affordable sports car. You will love it.

I don't consider these stressful times myself. 1940 was probably stressful . Maybe 1929 too
No issues whatsoever here. Back in 2020 when i had my first one and they were new on the roads id literally have people following me blinking their lights to get me to pull over and show it to them. That was a little weird. Now in almost 2023 i barely get a second look which works for me

A C8 is probably not the car to drive if you don't want to be noticed

I don't mind being noticed to a degree what bothers me is being screwed with by other drivers. I'm sure you know the type: they keep edging out so you can't see to make a turn, or speed up to keep you from merging back into the right lane or ride your bumper so you can't switch lanes. You know screwballs they are everywhere my concern is if having this car will increase negative interactions on the road.

I think you're thinking way too much into this. Just drive your car. It's a C8.. No one is out to get you. Enjoy it.

If the stress is too much, I’ll take the C8 off your hands.

Ya, best affordable sports car you can buy IMO, and there are plenty of other vehicles out there that cost more.

Certainly not, as craving attention is a main reason some purchase a Corvette.
I purchased mine because I love sportscars and the Corvette offers more for the $ spend than any other world-class sportscar on the market and I couldn't care lees who see me driving it.

Absolutely not. I don't find the times stressful.

I think what stresses some people out is consuming too much media. They hold your attention and sell it to advertisers. It just so happens that stoking fear and anger is what holds your attention.

I’d consider myself a pseudo social and eco warrior. I’m concerned about the future of our planet and am all for more sustainability and being environmentally conscious. I also recognize that EVs aren’t going to happen overnight; while they can be a great alternative, they still have limitations.

So that being said the C8 was a perfect option for me. I wanted something fast and sporty, but that also got great MPG. I get 30+ MPG on the highway with the C8. It’s comparable to the Honda Accord it replaced. It’s way better than numerous other comparable sports cars as well. And way better than the coal puffing diesel trucks I see commuting everywhere without ever seeing a dirt road or towing anything.

So for me the C8 is a great solution in many aspects while still being practical and better for the environment than numerous other choices.

That's mostly the way it is now here in SW Florida. C8s are all over the place..People are shipping them down to drive this winter. We are still cleaning up after hurricane Ian and thats going to take a long time. But people need a break from all the hard work .I'm taking my C8 to a Knights of Columbus car show tomorrow and hope to see some cool cars in the Sarasota area.
