Default engine cover design

Just curios, is the engine cover everyone is painting a copy of a real engine, or just a design that the engineers came up with?

Do you have a link or at least a pic of this cover?

Just curious as to what the heck you are referring to. You know what they say "a picture is worth a thousand words".

Thought about it versus the common plastic covers. 4 Dual Throat Webers would look interesting! Hooky but if done well better than the plastic covers all engines have today!

The engine cover I'm speaking about. Where the corvette is spelled I can see being valve covers, but the center strip eludes me, is it some form of intake, is it completely fictional. Just curios how the design came about?

The entire cover is nothing more than cosmetic....it is just for looks to hide the ugly intake manifold.

Some engineer got paid to make it look "cool".

^ Yep, just a cover to make the engine compartment look better.

Is there a part number yet for the GM cover? If so, is it available?

They still look like cast plastic to me. If I were bothering to swap for something, I'd pitch the plastic altogether and fab my own out of aluminum from scratch as I've done with others over the years... but admittedly on the down-side of my 8th-decade ir's just not worth the trouble for me on today's productions cars.
