Finding a car, at MSRP is not hard if you're willing to do some homework, make some phone calls, and be willing to travel. I did it, after saying the hell with "lists" and literally had my car, in my garage, 2 weeks after I started searching in earnest.

I did not get hung up on options that can be "bolted on" or swapped out later. There are plenty of other owners with take offs and a slew of solid aftermarket offerings out there to fill any gaps for your "perfect" car.

For me, it came down to getting the car NOW, at a price I knew, and at an awesome interest rate. This beat the hell out of waiting, to hopefully get exactly what I wanted, at who knows what price, and lord knows what interest rate. Something about a bird in the hand beats.....

Find it, make the calls, and if it's over MSRP say thanks but no thanks, and move on. I was willing to fly, drive, train, boat, or whatever, one way and drive it home. This is exactly what I did and am now over 2 months into owning one versus waiting till who knows when.

I had my money lined up, and once we had a signed sales agreement, my CU sent the check FedEx overnight and then it was only a matter of showing up, signing some papers, driving it off the showroom floor and then home. The selling dealer made no money off any financing or extras, it was sticker plus tax, tags, and the little processing fee.

It can be done. Use the builder, find it, make those calls, be persistent, and fulfill your dreams, stop waiting and start driving.

there are plenty of C8 Facebook groups with active dealers posting cars daily. Join the groups and see what’s available. I ended up placing an order with Art Moehn in Michigan. Deposit was mid February and my car was built this week. Should be able to fly out and pick it up hopefully in a few weeks.

not sure why everyone wants to get on these massive lists and wait another year. The dealers are posting cars on the lots, and daily there are dealers posting they have allocations ready to take orders
Facebook ? Is that the only source available for info on what dealerships currently have ? I have never had Facebook , so I'm not even sure I can view the groups.

unfortunately yes. There is one specific group called “C8 Corvettes at or below MSRP” where several dealers are actively posting daily.

I didn't ask for you to do anything for me. I've had my C8 for 18 months. I just asked you to help forum members. You said there were multiple dealers with C8s on the lot at MSRP. Here is your dealer with one 2023 C8 at MSRP.

You are correct there are dealers that can get an allocation and get a C8 in just a few months. I just don't think from my experience that you'll find them in metropolitan areas and it would take a lot of work and some luck to find one with an allocation where you could order one. Otherwise the majority of people on this forum wouldn't be waiting as long as they have been waiting since the C8 was first introduced.

right and I disagree. The cars are there to buy. I am helping by letting people know you don’t have to wait two years, but instead of doing the leg work people would rather sit on lists and complain about it. Sure there isn’t enough sitting on dealers lots currently to fulfill everyone’s orders… however you can order at smaller dealers with a 2-3 month wait!!! Again, the dealers are advertising their allocations ….. I just don’t get if a dealer has an allocation why wouldn’t you jump on the opportunity?!? But like I said… members will just sit and wait. Here are a few from yesterday…..

I am sure you can find a car if you are willing to search nationwide. I know some people don’t like buying from afar and that may not work for everyone. I will admit I have an advantage over most buyers as I have friends that combined own over 65 dealerships which is why I paid about 10k under sticker for my car and I paid thousands under sticker for the BMW 750 I bought Monday. That was car #485 and since I probably have a few decades on many of you I have been doing this a lot longer than most. I know my area pretty well and you would be hard pressed to talk to any high end car dealer around here that does not know my name, but I have no idea what the market is like in other areas and I doubt any of us here are market experts for all brands nationwide. I have waited for a few of the Ferrari’s I have owned (even though I bought over 20 cars from Algar) but other than that I have never waited for any car prior to the pandemic (dealer trades were much more common and I was able to get dozens of cars that way) and I hope at some point things change. Even my buying habits (I have bought only ten cars since March 2020 normally that number would had been closer to 45) and I get kidded about that often from my friends in the business. Yes some of those friends put ADM on cars (like G Wagon square for almost 400k) but as they have told me if you are getting 10 cars instead of 100 you need to make what you can on what you get. They have staffs that want to have jobs and as they see it if you don’t want to pay the price maybe the next person will it is their choice.

What is your basic method for tracking down vehicles with prices you're willing to pay? Do you just pick up the phone and start calling dealerships ? Do you send emails ? Or just visit dealership websites ?

If I remember correctly , I believe Chevy dealership websites aren't allowed to post fictitious prices , and must disclose additional fees and add-ons. But I think 3rd party sites are able to be a little more 'dishonest' with what the final price actually is.

Like I said I do have an advantage, when dealers were open to dealer trades at times, I would tell my dealer this is what I want how close can you get, or I would search myself and then tell my dealer go get me this one and they would. I am not saying this (these are merely the facts) to brag but usually the cars I buy are higher end, and the MB, BMW, Porsche websites show cars from a great distance. When I said I have never waited I meant when the car is already out (I am waiting for the new Gran Turismo). You are correct these sites like cars.com, cargurus, autotrader, will post MSRP and then when you call you are told the real price. I do agree with the members who say you might have more luck at smaller local dealerships, though you will have to consider their service departments ability to work on the C8. I admit I get treated differently than most people (when I told them I want free maintenance on the 750 for as long as I own, it was written into the deal) and I would not expect any of you would get the same treatment I do, but that does not mean that you should be asked to pay over sticker when there are other options.
