Stingray Chevrolet

I put a $500 deposit @ Stingray Chevrolet on 1/7/22. My C8 was finally delivered on 5/10/23. Because of the model change during the wait time, my build went up $6K so I took out $3k worth of options to keep things within reason of original price. When Stingray called to let me know the C8 was almost there, I asked for the final sales sheet so I could have the exact price ahead of time. I do this all the time to avoid “surprises” at the dealer’s desk. Well, I found out at this time that their “Dealer Prep Fee” had almost doubled, and there were a bunch of fees including an additional title and tag fee. Basically their fees had doubled to about $2k. When I asked them to honor our original agreement , the Salesman told me “it was their car and they were extending me the privilege of buying it from them and I was lucky they weren’t charging $10K over MSRP like other dealers.” I asked to speak to the General Manager and he told me his salesman was 100% correct. Sad story since I couldn’t accept this type of beratement so I asked for my deposit back. They were absolutely appalled that I was asking them to honor their original fees since I had stuck it out with them for 1 1/2 years. . I can only imagine what it would have been like at the dealer’s desk since I was renting a car to travel the 2 1/2 hours to get to them. Best to get something in writing especially if you are hanging out there for 2 years but don’t expect it from Stingray. They would only acknowledge my deposit.

Try $999 and a bunch of other surprise fees that come up at delivery. And don’t expect to be notified of any increases while you wait the 2 years. They prefer to have you at the showroom desk with your new C8 behind you. Not honorable.

When I took delivery in my 2022 HTC in April 2022, I had ordered it in Feb 2021, but there were only 350 on the list then.

I put a deposit with Stingray and with Ciocca last February…. My car was delivered by Ciocca one year and two weeks later. I started with Stingray at #764, today I am still at #227 15 months later.
the Stingray people are very nice, call you right back etc, but they just don’t get a lot of cars. I’m on their ERAY list, so maybe in 5 years they’ll call me and say it’s ready.

I live in the Midwest and walked into a dealer last Saturday to put an order in. I was told they thought they would have an allocation the following week and that they didn't have anyone one their waitlist at the time. I then went and bought a Tahoe on Monday from another dealer and they said they thought they would get 2 allocations that week and they only had one person on their list. Thursday I had both dealers offer me an allocation and was able to put an order in. Long story short, I would start looking around at other dealers.

Would not hurt to check with MacMulkin Chevy, Criswell Chevy, or Ciocca Chevy. See how their wait list compares.

Stingray will not give that to you even a day before you go to pick up your C8. I forced the matter, and even then they call it an “estimate only”. They want you at the showroom sales desk with your C8 behind you before they slide over the “official Bill of Sale”. Dishonest

Thank you- I had called them when I began this journey back in January 2022 and they wouldn’t take my deposit since they had too many waiting. I am going to visit them this week to see if things have changed. Do you know if they are MSRP and if they have any abnormal fees?

I purchased mine from Stingray in Plant city, If you go to their website you will find more than half that number have no builds on file. This means their order will not go in. Mine took 12 months came in August 22. The dealer also keeps you well informed of your status too.

I didn't wait at all. In december MacMalkin had several in stock ready for delivery. I grabbed one a 23 3lt for msrp. He has some every now and then But if you are a serious buyer you can shop the net and find them in stock at MSRP It just takes some work to find one close to what you want . I was lucky got everything i wanted third choose on color(black) but had to move up from a 2lt to a 3lt which in the end i like better. I also got lucky and deal with macmilkin they are very familiar with out of state transacting's and transport. car was transported 3000 miles with no issues.
