C8’s are still rare - only saw 1 in 2 hours/120 miles

Helped my son move back to college this afternoon so I followed behind him in my Jeep about 120 miles and 2 hours up the Florida Turnpike and I-75 from Orlando to Gainesville. Just for ***** and giggles I decided to count Corvettes and I only spotted two, both yellow - one was a Millennium Yellow C5 vert headed in the opposite direction. Just as I was getting ready to exit off I-75 in Gainesville I got passed by an Accelerate Yellow C8.R special edition #3 which looked totally “lit” as the youngsters like to say I probably had several thousand cars go by me during the roughly 2 hour trip and I was expecting to see at least a half dozen C8’s and an equal number of Corvettes from the other generations so I was kind of surprised to only see one C8 and I came within about a half mile of not even seeing that one. I should mention it was a bit drizzly out so perhaps that kept all the Corvettes at home.
Vettes are the most garaged vehicles in America.

I don't think they're rare in the realm of the premium high performance sports cars it competes with. They're among the most common if not the most common in that category which includes 911, Nissan GTR, AMG GTR, Jaguar F-Type, Huracan, R8, NSX, etc. Compared to any one of those cars, I've lately seen more C8s.
But C8s are very rare in the realm of cars I'm interested in/in my price range. This includes the Nissan Z, Supra, GR Corolla and 86/BRZ, Camaro, Mustang, Cayman, etc.
And it's relatively rare on the road in general but so are some of those more common sports cars I listed (Supra, Cayman, Z). I see a huge sea of SUVs, sedans, econoboxes, etc. in quantities that are multiples over the one occasional sighting of some of these "common" sports cars.
So it depends on what the "rare" label being applied to C8 is relative to.

Is there a link with factual proof that a greater % of C8s are in the owner's garage than on the road than any other rare sports car?

Yes, certainly could be said about other rare vehicles.
One of my cars has a world wide production run of only 1000 vehicles in its production year. I have honestly never seen another one in public ever, even though some of those are in the US and they're out there somewhere. I put very little mileage on it as I imagine other owners do and yes, it gets a lot of garage time.

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area it's super rare to see a Corvette let alone a C8. I commute 1 hour each way to work 2 days a week and I've probably only seen 3 C8s in the last 6 months. Whereas I probably see at least 3 Rivians a day, at least 3 Lucid Airs a week and 3 white Tesla's every 30 seconds. ICEs are a dying breed here in NorCal.

Lol I commute 5 days a week and still don’t see any. It’s actually surprising since Porsches, M/AMGs and Hellcats are seen everytime I drive out. I actually kept a track of every time I seen a C8 across 2 year period here in the Bay and on average I seen about 1-2 C8s per month. Not sure if people just keep them as garage queens cause I always wondered why Vettes are not that common in the Bay🤔
That's a good thing for C8 owners.

They are out for the holiday weekend already. Went to the liquor store this morning just 4 miles away and saw three.

C8's are everywhere here in North Texas. Not as common as Tesla's but they certainly rival late model Porsche's and BMW's here in the suburbs. Quite honestly, they are really 'no big deal' any more. It you go to the various monthly Cars & Coffee gatherings, the biggest group will be the C8's.... It's time to move on to the next big thing .....

A lot of C8s in South Florida. I frequently see them.
In Central/Northern California, different story. One to two weeks ago I spent somewhere around 18-20 hours on the road driving in and around Central and Northern CA. I saw one C8 the entire time.

The combo of GM having built only just over 100k or for the US and the fact it's a sports car (so not a daily driver for everyone) are the reason why C8s seem rare in many parts of the country.

Corvette’s used to be super cool when there was some exclusivity to them. Now a base model cost the same as a Toyota or a pick up truck. When you would drive down the road in the past and see another Corvette the driver would wave and it was a cool exclusive club. Now it’s just another car. Sort of a bummer.

I see quite a few, but I live near the Milford GM Proving grounds. Get to wave a lot. I also drive a Rivian, If I see one a month it is a suprise.
