so I’m planning a long trip pretty soon and I'd really like to reduce the amount of heat that I have in the rear baggage area. I saw YouTube with a guy who pulled off the composite panel and did this , and said it reduced the baggage temperature about 30 to 40°. It’s a cheap mod so I’m in… I’ll let you know in a few months if it was worth it. It’s a lot of screws coming out, but it’s an easy mod. I like this better than the online kit product that they sell, which attaches insulation to your trunk lining, this is cheaper and seems to be more effective.
It’s one layer of the silver insulation, and two layers of the gold stuff.
It appears that the access panels for the Coupe and HTC are different. I can confirm that the removable panel to access the air filter on the HTC is 30" x 13". The 13" would include the curve at the bottom. The panel is accessed by removing the 15 screws on the HTC. The main difference in panels is the Coupe has an additional curved are at the top of the panel where the HTC panel only has the curve at the bottom.
Above is the HTC panel. Below is the C8 Coupe Air Intake filter access panel The C8 Coupe Air Intake filter access panel
I think a 30 to 40 degree drop in temperature is an exaggeration probably more like 10 to 15 at best. Has anyone measured the temperature back there? For a 40 degree drop it would have to be as high as 140, ouch.

Yes, see my real data in the thread I linked to above.
I found this in a earlier thread and bought it off ebay (uxcell 236mil 16.36sqft Car Auto Truck Sound Deadener Heat Insulation )
I installed it on the carpet panel, trimmed it to fit and cleaned up a few of the areas with Aluminum tape so it looks like it came on the car. I should have taken pictures since I was so pleased with how it came out.
Total cost $29
I did not do a before and after test but I have done some side to side comparisons with a few buddies and it has convinced them to insulate.
Next time I take the carpet off (new air Filter) I will take a few photos.
