The removal process is also a nightmare and takes forever. No thank you!

what brand PPF is this? Looks like the car itself wasn’t properly washed/protected/maintained. That’s most likely why it’s dull with so many swirl marks on it.

I like it because of the protection and the fact ppf (along with Ceramic Coating) makes the car so easy to wash and clean. Washed mine yesterday.

Have no idea the downsides of PPF but certainly know the downside finding a painter than can do a good color match paint job. You are one of the few that found a good painter.

And the numbers you threw out were NOT “apples to apples” comparisons.

The $2250 you mention is extremely misleading unless they were going to charge you $2250 just to get the hood PPF’d as I only paid $500 for XPEL Ultimate to PPF on my hood. BTW, for $2300 I got the entire front end wrapped which included the entire hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, front fascia, A-pillars+painted area above the windshield and side mirrors. Rockers/inlet duct areas was extra.

I don't want to be sorry that I didn't install PPF so I'm going to have it installed. Sure, like everything, there's positives and negatives, but I just don't like rock chips and this low hood is sure to be a magnet for them.

I was quoted $5500 for full body PPF in 2022 but those days are long gone with inflation having jacked things up. I'd expect it to be another $1k more nowadays. It's not on the crazy end towards $10k prices like I've seen quoted since the C8's launch year. And mine was done in SoCal where cost of living isn't cheap. You just need to bargain hunt for a quality installer.

Downsides for PPF? You just need to read entire thread. Paint and duplication have come a long way. Mine was done by a Midwest Chevy dealer body shop, so no extraordinary find. Excellent job. Glad you paid what you feel is a great price for that film. You are quite the deal maker. So you had the hood done twice?

Did full front, and after 2 years would recommend doing at least the front bumper and mirrors, around $600.
