Default Highway driving question

Just wondering what you all think is the best mode for performance highway driving as in touring vs sport vs track mode? Can anyone explain which mode would be best to use on the highway in terms of being the most responsive as in acceleration? I'm testing these 3 modes on the highway but am not noticing major differences. Just would like other peoples input. Thanks...

I feel the answer is easy, Track Mode. It has the most aggressive throttle and shift-points.

I believe you can adjust the same shift-points in the MyMode setting. This will keep the engine rpm higher (at any given speed) where torque is more abundant and oil pressure in the transmission higher, which may allow it to shift faster (not sure if that applies to the Tremec DCT, but it's a factor with most automatic transmissions). One other difference is that in track mode, V4 mode (AFM) is disabled. The difference in throttle response when V4 mode is active is small but not zero since the system must disengage before you can get full torque.
Depending on how much you enjoy this (we are not judging...) track mode (or selecting the higher shift points in MyMode) will have a significantly negative effect on gas mileage, so if it matters to you, you may want to watch out for that before you make it a habit

Leave it in Tour mode and install a Soler throttle controller

the car has nannies controlling the throttle response, I found thr car VERY dissapointing response wise until I installed the Soler Controller, it makes a HUGE difference

My Zmode (Z51, MagRide) is everything turned up, with shocks on the soft setting. I just leave it there most of the time.

tour mode is useless.

Yep had my 2020 C8 Z51 in Z-Mode Power/Shifting set to Tack. In my case Ride set to Sport. Have my E-Ray set the same.

Cannot set MY Mode to shift that way. Have MY Mode set to Sport. Goes into V4 and uses all 8 gears. Eaven the 0.33:1 OD ratio.
Z-Mode in my rural are seldom past 5th gear and never in V4. 5th gear is 0.66:1, OD plenty good enough for me.

PS: Throttle Controllers only make the gas paddle "seem more responsive" as ~1/4 gas pedal make wire throttle control move to ~1/2. WOT = Full with or without. I used when my standard shift Grand Sport when I first got it as required Touring with it's slow throttle tip-in. When I got the GM MRC software update where I could drive in more aggressive MRC Mode with it's faster Tip-in.-REMOVED IT. In my 2014 C7 Z51 without MRC always drove it Track that had fast throttle tip-in and zero effect on ride.

This is a video of a member who shows why he always drives in Z-Mode (it's like driving a different, more responsive car) :

Thanks for the responses so far. From what I can understand so far is that "track or Z" mode are probably best for throttle responsiveness on the highway due to the fact that you dont go in to V4 and stay in a lower gear like 6th so you dont downshift as much and are already driving at a higher RPM. Makes sense. Appreciate your responses.

You can not. The setting that changes the shift points is "engine/shift". In MyMode, that setting cannot be changed - it is defaulted to Tour. MyMode does allow chanigng of the other settings. What you are saying is true for Z-Mode, where all of the settings, including the engine/shift can be changed.

OP, that answer depends on your expectations for "performance highway driving". I think of highway driving as long stretches of smooth roads, with gentle curves, and sustained speeds above 50 mph (not to be confused with sustained high speed driving at very high speeds). And, whether or not you have an aversion to v4 mode (I don't for that particular case). Z-Mode will allow you adjust every setting, so you can experiment with it. Most changes will not be so noticeable for just highway driving.

Engine/shift will change the shift points - but what difference does that make for highway driving? It will also change the throttle progression - which is not real performance - but may be perceived as making the car more responsive. I personally prefer to feel the torque in the higher gear rather than downshifting aggressively. Both Sport and Track settings of engine/shift will result in more aggressive downshifting - in automatic shift mode. So I tend not to use those settings - but its good if you like that. I think a good option is to use a Sport or Track setting for engine/shift but use manual shift mode. Manual shift mode, by the way, avoids V4 mode regardless of any other setting - if that is what you want.

All of the other settings (brake, ride, engine sound, steering) can also be set where you want in Z mode. I just use Tour settings for brake, steering, ride. I select engine sound depending on what I want. For straight highway driving I'm not sure what good a stiffer ride, stiffer steering, stiffer brakes really does. But is a personal preference.

Most differences in settings are going to be much more noticeable on roads with greater curves, more bumps etc - rural back roads for example - or road course driving.

Thanks for the correction. Is that true for all years? I need to check because I am pretty sure I was able to. It may have been in my wife's car (a '21).

I honestly think Sport mode is the best for highway driving. Plenty of throttle response for passing and the suspension isn't too harsh. This is coming from someone who loves Track and Z mode.

GM and Fellows have stated to never use Track mode on anything but prepared race surfaces on both C7 snd C8. There is risk to suspension and wheels.

Can you show us where this is officially stated by GM?

On my 2021, its true that engine/shift cannot be changed in MyMode and it defaults to Tour. According to the manuals, including the 2024, it is still true. MyMode does not allow setting of the engine/shift setting. Z mode does.

Tadge “Ask Tadge” post said that is not true
it why live with stiff Track ride if you have MRC. Use ZMode set power to Track but ride wherever you like. If you don’t have MRC makes no difference

If you want quicker acceleration and better response on the highway, Sport Mode is probably your best bet. It strikes a nice balance between being fun to drive and still practical for daily use. It makes the car feel sportier but isn't as intense as track mode, which can be too stiff and jumpy for longer drives.

^^^
That is why you use Z-Mode. If you have MRC can set Ride for Touring if you'd like. Power/Trans set to Track.

If you don't have MRC the ride is always the same regardless of drive mode.

Frankly Jumpy is ALL right Foot dependent. Use a light right foot and it shifts at lower rpm.
