2024 Stingray with $15,000 market adjustment
#21
It’s still shady…. 98% of new car transactions are completed at MSRP or single digit percent cheaper. When dealers turn into speculators it hurts the overall brand. People remember.

Hard no. Those days are done. Car market is bad now. Now I know there are no huge discounts everywhere for C8s, but do not give any dealer anything they have marked up. Long story short. Found a 2024 C8. On line, advertised at MSRP. Went there, additional $5000 mark up on the windshield in giant red numbers (of course not shown in online pictures). Salesman comes over. I said with that BS we are done here. Manager comes over right away, small Georgia dealership, you cannot book service appointments online, that's how small. They both said if your serious about buying it we will make the $5000 mark up go away. They did and I got it at MSRP. i was also able to use $1500 in Marcus Sachs GM credit card. Had over $3k on it but it was the new card so C8 capped at $1500. So do not pay any ADM.

But I think the major issue here is that when Stingray's are selling below MSRP alll over the place, this dealer is totally out of touch.

I figure dealers who add market adjustments are hoping for the first time/gotta have it buyers. If they put $40K ADP on a car, and during negotiations they drop it to $20K ADP, the uninformed buyer thinks he's getting a good deal, when in fact he's just not getting screwed as hard.

Well, that dealer (Lee Johnson) is the worst dealer in the area. I've had quite a few issues with them, from service manager telling me to 'man up' when they did work under warranty, only to get it denied by GM, to sales manager denying my discount for a car ('15 SS 1LE) I've ordered when the car was finally at the dealer.
Google was going to buy that building and that dealership would close, but then Google cut their growth plans in the area, so they survived. I don't think it's making much money, and its owners seem to be trying to get rid of it.

That doesn't sound like the current prevailing market pricing for that year and model.
