Default So many C-8 for sale with such low miles, why ?

I see so many new corvettes for sale with 2 and 3k miles on them, what is it that makes so many people get rid of them so quickly ? I keep a fun car 4 - 6 years.

Not everyone is you. Lots of people buy a new car every year or two. Maybe they want a new color, or buy a Stingray then trade up to a Z06, lots or reasons. Doesn't mean anything.

Depending on the owner that might not be particularly low… I got my car in December in the middle of Winter. It came out of storage May 1 and it’s got 158 miles 🤷‍♂️. Right now I’m juggling four cars including my sons which is eating up a lot of my time. Also I’m recently retired and have determined I’m currently driving 4,500-5,000 miles a year. In total. Across all my cars. Would like to use the C8 more but the wife hates getting out of it. Would like to pick up my granddaughter from school in the C8 but the parents won’t allow it. No front seats for the children because of airbags…. Etc. it’s a gorgeous car and I’m trying to drive it more but if it’s not your only car it can end up being a special occasions vehicle and I could see me swapping my C8 for a 911 or semi vintage Ferrari in a few years. If I do I can see myself moving on after 2,000 to 4,000 miles 🤷‍♂️…. Just don’t drive that much….

And as much as I like the car… I dislike General Motors…. Probably more. After everything that’s happened… everything that’s come to light and knowing how corporations work…. and we probably don’t know the half of it when it comes to how gm was using the data it collects from our cars… 🙄.

Do not like being in bed with General Motors. And I grew up in a gm family. We abandoned gm as a family decades ago and no one has been tempted to go back until I bought my C8. There are just much better more trustworthy companies to do business with. Much better.

You find this for sportscars in general, as they are often impulse purchases. You get a better job, get s raise, win a bet, win a lottery, sign a spots contract, get divorced, you run out and buy a sportscar.
Some quickly find that owning a sportscar isn't necessarily what they had hoped it would be. Then it's FOR SALE!

My first Corvette was a '94 C4 that I got in 2009 and the "honeymoon " phase lasted for 12 1/2 years until I traded it on a '19. That old C4 was a great road car and very reliable once I did the waterpump/optispark replacement 😄. I've had the C8 for almost two years now and still gt arush when I walk into the garage and see it sitting next to my C7.

I might be a little weird though.

Thats not weird, that’s way cool. That’s how I want to feel and sometimes do but I study cars all the time and although every time I see my car I think it looks amazing…

But to be absolutely thrilled I would need to see a Huracan Performante or 458 Speciale….. those cars are the ultimate to me. And I wouldn’t complain about a Pagani, or a Custom Speed Kore carbon fiber bodied 69 Hellcat Powered Road Runner. I’d sleep in that car 🤣🤣🤣

Nothing wrong with enjoying your passion. I have loved my cars for 40 years and enjoy the hobby more than ever.

Interesting that no one has mentioned many Stingrays are for sale with low miles as their owners picked up a C8 Z06. In 2010 I got a low mileage C6Z as the owner traded it for a ZR1. I sold that C6Z a month after I picked up my C8Z. It was a very good car for me and the C8Z is so much better.

I had a '23Z and knew almost immediately the car wasn't for me. Bought a low mile '18 m7 Z three months later and sold the '23 after I'd owned it the required 6 months.

Between the two I'd take the C6Z given that it's a third of the cost, weighs 600lbs less, and comes with a stick.

Most guys are so over protective of their cars the mileage is quite low. Corvettes are great preowned purchase vehicles now that depreciation has become an aspect of corvette ownership.

good luck.

Then I'm one of the crazy ones. Took delivery of my 24 HTC last October, currently at 540 miles. My 2012.5 911 C2S Cab has 13,630 miles on it now. My 2003 Avalanche Z66 is at 24,700. My 2023 CT5 is at 3,120 as of yesterday. I sold my 2016 vert last May with 1,306 miles on it. I'll stop there.... It's impossible to drive all of them but I try. Flame suit just got back from the cleaners and is on. Everyone does it differently.

Wonder if the auto only has cut into longer term ownership desire? If someone craves “driver engagement” the options are getting fewer and fewer out there.

With full HCI, I accomplished all the performance goals I had for the C6Z, but the C8Z is a far better street car, more comfortable and it will be better on the track. The ride is better at a sustained 150 MPH, but it won't do 200 like I did with the C6Z.

I put 90K on my C7 but was driving to work them. Retired now only put 2700 on the C8 in 8 months I've owned it.

Lots of people just bounce around from toy car to toy car every year or two, rather than keep one car longer. It’s not really people “getting rid of it” and it’s really not exclusive to Corvettes. Some people just like to try new things more often.
