Default Mid-engine Corvette

If both cars were as fast would you rather have a front engine or rear engine car?

Front. Have fun working on a midengine car. I also love the C7 cargo space.

Mid. The driving dynamics are simply better. On such a car I think it makes sense to sacrifice trunk space for driving dynamics.

I am loving my Z06. Might just keep it when/if the mid engine comes out.

I'm in the same boat. If the mid engine doesn't completely blow me away or if it still uses only an ICE then I will keep the Z, mod the hell out of it and turn it into a weekend warrior and go buy some fun electric as a DD. After nearly three years of ownership I'm still in awe every time I see my car and am certainly still enjoying the drive.

Best,
Gene

What do you mean there will be no space for lawn chairs? Carlisle will not be able to get the Guinness Book Records for the most lawn chairs in one location.

So long as it looks appealing, rear-engine or front engine doesn't matter to me.

I am hoping for 1 of 2 scenarios to play out. Either:

A) I love the C8 mid-engine and the mass produced version is affordable or

B) I hate it but It becomes popular anyway and the price of C7Zs plummet.

I prefer the low front cowl and short hood of a rear mid engine corvette if possible. Makes placing the vehicle even easier. Imho

The c7 is great for sure but a rear mid engine c8 is just what the doctor ordered.

Time to make that a reality.

Change is good even if the current model is fantastic.

Bingo.

Besides, like Gene in New York, those of us in MN view our vettes as year round utility vehicles. Throw on a hitch and anything is possible

^^^ Really awesome how multi-dimensional a C6 Z06 is. No problem pulling a trailer with a snowmobile, in the cold, in the snow, in MN.

Mid engine all the way. I've owned every generation of Corvette and they simply get better each generation. It will be the same with the mid engine. Better handling dynamics. That's why all the exotics are built on that platform.
Guess I'll have to find a more compact lawn chair

I'll go with the majority seeing that I probably won't own a vette anytime soon. With that said, I do not like that extra deck behind the hatch. You can throw a kids party there.

Too early to tell what the ME Vette will be like. We don't even know if it is just going to be GT competitor or an actual vette yet. 5yrd is aweful short run for such a good vette design.

Agree, 5 year is too short a run. ZR1 next year and then a couple more years for the current platform probably.

This is definitely a halo car for GM (ala Ford GT).

The C8 platform will be the same as the C7 - Front Engine, RWD due to development costs.
