There's a ;ink in the original post. It's a story written by a clueless reporter: Richard Truett at Automotive News. He expected the ME to debut at NAIAS in Detroit. Many, many members on this forum, myself included, have stated many times that it was NOT going to appear at NAIAS in Detroit in 2018 (2019, yes). Now this same reporter is speculating it will be shown at Geneva in early March. I'll go on record here - not going to happen.

Exactly Zymurgy. And we know that after Geneva, Truett will then guess the New York Auto Show, then 24 Hours of LeMans, the Petit LeMans, etc. Anything for more clicks on their sites/articles.

Chevy announced quite a while ago that the factory in BG would be closed to public tours from June of 2017 until sometime in January of 2019. That alone says that the C8 ME will not be shown to the public any earlier than January of 2019. Logically, the NAIAS in Detroit, 2019, will be the debut of the C8.

I was watching Rick Conti's most recent VLOG, and he mentioned the Engine Build program would only be available until June 2018. Since the build center is isolated from the rest of the plant, the only reason I can think of for closing the build center is because they'll be refitting it and training the staff to build a new engine or two.
If that's true, and they start doing manufacturing validation builds around the same time, Q3 of this year could yield some interesting spy material or leaks.
