Today they cover everything up with plastic covers so there's no need. McLaren now doesn't even let you look at the engine anymore in some cars. Its under a shelf.
Ferrari spends a lot of time designing the engine bay and custom making everything to look correct. Others just cover up the ugly wires, tubes, etc. The Ferrari 458 was the last good looking engine under glass. The 488 not so much because of all the Turbo stuff.
Yes. Loved it on my F430... so did everbody else. It was a big adjustment when I moved on to Porsche GT3 which has a similar visual impact to the back of a desktop computer. The GT3 though makes the F430 feel like a C4 Corvette by comparison. I wish I was kidding.
I'm totally on the fence regarding the C8 though. The C7 doesn't lack performance but its versatility as an everyday car has to suffer as Corvette moves mid-engine. My F430 had very limited space for everything but the passengers and I can't see the new Vette improving on it. I justified it because "Hey, I have a Ferrari". That justification just won't work for Corvette.
