Maybe the first time we see a C8 it will be in Jay Lenos Garage, he's has an excellent working relationship with Corvette throughout the years so its possible they will give him one of the first ones! just speculation of course.

My guess is that the C8 will still be the same FE/RWD platform and the ME "Whatever" will be it's own model, not called the Corvette.
