The first year of the mid engine will only offer a LT1 derived, 16V, OHV, naturally aspirated V8. Most expect around 500 HP/500 TQ (could be called an LT2). It will incorporate some enhancements over the current LT1.
Expect twin stage, twin turbos, 32V DOHC on the subsequent year’s high perf version, and maybe even the ZR1/Zora version eventually having both a twin turbo plus electric motor(s) driving the front wheels.

Reason: Corrected major typo.
There has been no official word so it’s anyone’s guess right now, but a version of the LT motor in the base car is as good a guess as any right now. I wouldn’t eliminate any possibility in the 2020. One would have to assume more exotic possibilities over the next couple years but you know what they say about assuming.

Elegant,
I believe u meant to say it is an OHV(meaning in block cam) not OHC, correct? Basically a warmed over LT1.
Early on, in the C8 section there was a post of a copy of a GM document that outlined the engine quantities for each year in the future. It listed the "Lt1", the medium hp DOHC, and the twin turbo DOHC. I can't find the post, but I remember that it meant the initial C8's would have the pushrod engine.
I think the document you are referring to is the IHS Markit report. I think you need to make way to many assumptions to use it as a reference for C8 engine configurations.
"The Corvette's current 6.2-liter V-8 is listed but is more likely destined for the front-engine C7, which is believed to continue production for a few more years. The most interesting tidbit from the document is that [the twin turbo] 4.2-liter and 5.5-liter V-8 options are also expected—presumably for the upcoming mid-engine variant. IHS' production estimates suggest the 6.2-liter V-8 will be the most popular option, which would make sense if the C7 carries on as the "volume" model, followed by the 4.2-liter and finally the 5.5-liter [for the mid-engine Corvette]."

is the ME definately coming out in 2020 ? Or is the C7 going to continue for a few more years ?
