...is gross in my opinion. Reminds me of the C4 steering wheel (after refresh); I love the C4, but I hate that steering wheel. Looks clunky. No good 9-3 grip. Anyone else fee the same way?
I will reserve final judgement for when I get to see one in person, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that when I first saw it, my mind went straight to this:
Interesting that we each feel differently. I am very happy that there are not going to be 9:00 and 3:00 side spokes interfering with my getting a readily good yet relaxed grip of the steering wheel, not needing to move/adjust my fingers around the side spokes “entering the rim.” I asked two friends what they thought of non-having of not having spokes at 9:00 and 3:00 and they too were pleased.
As to the your feelings of it looking clunky, perspective is a very adjustable manner; let’s see how we feel when we are seeing the wheel when we aresitting in the dirver’s — not seeing it from off to the side.

Huh, never thought about the comfort component. Makes sense!
I felt the same way about the C6 automatic paddles. I kind of liked being able to shift with one hand. My friends thought it was a good quirk but others derided it. To each their own!
The picture that was cropped from looked a little distorted toward its sides, a little fish eyed. It actually looks like your thumbs will lay perfectly at 9 &3 at the wheel's centerline.

times have changed. The new rule is 8:47 and 2: 52. ...
People are ignoring the fact that the center of the steering wheel is the same shape as the bottom of the split rear window, which is also represented on the seats. I also just realized that the C7 steering wheel looks like a Stingray. I’m a little slow.

I have never used paddles except for rev match on my 7M (and that I only do once after starting the car), however with DCT paddles would it not be better to “completely clear out” that area by eliminating the wheel’s side spokes — to make everything cleaner/easier to engage/disengage them?
FWIW To me the finish on the black spokes, hub to rim, is what makes the wheel unattractive.
I like the chrome on the spoke used as an outline.
"D" shaped, well times moves on as with belly fat on Vette demographic owners (haha), yet I still kind of
prefer a uniform circle as a wheel.
I too have read about recommended update from 10 and 2 to 8 and 4 hand position, because of airbag deployment.
Bonus point if there will be a rpm light at the top of the wheel
It doesn't bother me as much as it does others. I can certainly understand if they did it because the paddles needed more prominence but I thought that the new steering wheel was supposed to be a squircle (square circle). The top still looks round unless we are just not seeing enough of it.
