Pretty slow here atm so figured I would ask, with all the talk about how the ME will look what is your favorite Modern Production ME? I see lots of posts showing the sexy cars or race cars of the 60s and 70s, beautifully curvy and seductive but dont see much of that today. Also, many times the cars that are referenced and current are one off show cars, not production cars, or the hyper car.

With all the regulations, safety measures, pedestrian standards and EPA regs is it possible to approach the look of a Miura or a 250 LM? The closest I get to being right to my eye is the Ferrari 458 Italia, how about you?

The one I like, and could afford and still have, is a 2013 Porsche Boxster S. Fun car to drive. If push came to shove and I had to get rid of either the 2012 C6 GS or the Boxster, I would be hard pressed to make a decision.

Corvette has traditionally designed their cars in parallel with Ferrari. The F458 was used by GM and Team Corvette and was put up for auction recently. I would think they would have had a 488 there as well but the ZORA exterior body panels were 100% correct at least 3 years ago according to the tool and Mold company that I talked to that built the retractable molds. I do think that the C7 had some Lamborghini influence in the folded crease surface detailing. And a few of Corvette designers that I have talked to have always seemed to highly respect Aston Martin.

So which ME works for you from an appearance point of view?

I cant really say I find much of any of the current crop beautiful? Aggressive, purposeful, yeah those are out there but sexy, idk. With all the intakes and aero that they use to be competitive in handling and HP it seems the clean smooth approach is out.

Blending these two together would be a nice foundation for the styling direction of the C8.

How new does it have to be to be considered "modern"?

I like the way you think. That C3 does it for me more than any other car. I think I'll move the cab forward in photo shop. Stand by.

There are some views of Chazcrons renderings that really relate to Ferrari.

Beautiful, two of my favorites for sure, not modern though. I'm not sure that the companies can do what ya have with todays regs. Plus, with the cooling needs the picture gets even muddier.

Well neither would a modern NA 600hp without all the EPA regs to worried about. So much to take account for these days that wasn't a factor then.

I think the car that does a lot for me is below. Mclaren really modeled this car after the ideology of the first gen NSX. Ingress/Egress, visibility, timeless design, etc. This is the car NSX enthusiasts wanted from Honda with the new gen NSX, but got a mini 918 instead. Granted, some "Mclaren" gets in there that doesn't quite equal the original Honda reliability, but I DO indeed believe this car is being overlooked, much like the NSX was, as it became overshadowed. For 125k'ish bucks...this is the car to own and retain in my book.

Ferrari 488 GTB seems pretty good looking to me. If the ME is close to this then I would love one

I saw one of these (in this color) on the road recently and in person they are absolutely stunning. I work right down the road from Ron Tonkin Ferrari, so I see way more Ferrari's driving around than I do Corvettes.

To me, the 488 is the best looking mid engine design of all time.

This and the LaFerrari were designed in house at Ferrari. They parted company with Pininfarina because the latter is way behind in technology. Stylist (artists) have to be very well educated these days. New cars have to perform at all levels.
