A while back there were rumors of various issues with C8 that resulted in a few months delay in the launch. My sources indicate that one of the issues was a bit more severe than previously indicated and that it was not just an electrial problem, but an electrical problem coupled with resulting engine bay fires. Remind anyone of Fiero?
With that said, what are the issues we know of that have occurred with the C8?
Related, what are some of the issues people recall with prior first year Vette models? I recall the 84' had several, faulty windshield wiper switch, dash lights that would turn off at random, leaking weather stripping (all C4s), and a frame issue that would eventually result in a crack in the paint at the B Pillar. 97' had the bad glue on the rear hatch glass that could result in the rear hatch becoming a kite at 100 mph. 68' was known for having tons of issues though I don't recall the specifics. At this point though, I imagine most of those cars have been rebuilt enough times that the issues are pretty much worked out.
Thoughts?

The only issue we know is a couple cars were towed away. No one knows why are has any proof about any other issues. Everything else, including your statement, is pure speculation and rumor.
Unfortunately, I think we do need to worry here...OP is on to something.
Serious problems could exist, for example:
1) If enough oxygen gets in the gas tank with a violent electrical spark, the whole thing could blow. Rumors have it that oxygen + volatile compounds + sparks can lead to a run-away reaction.
2) With enough horsepower and depending on how the engine is mounted to the frame, torsional forces caused by intense impulsive rotational changes in inertia could be severe enough to jolt the frame such that the rear window could break.
3) A car passing the C8 doing 80MPH is faster than even the mid-engine C8 at 70MPH putting serious doubt into the lackluster engine's 450-550HP target range. This could be a serious marketing issue.
and finally, 4) No C8 has ever been physically viewed here by a corvette forum member of ACTUALLY SEEING a C8 stop and then start again and DRIVING AWAY from a gas station! This alone could kill the project.
You are mistaking the C8 for the 2010 458 Ferrari which had dozens of engine fires due using flammable glue to hold heat shields in place. And how much does a Ferrari cost ??
i think there will be issues. its a new car, new layout, new transmission, new electrical system and ? new motor?
the question is will any of these be severe or just minor glitches.
ive been following the jeep jl since it came out as i was in the market for a new wrangler and that vehicle has and continues to have numerous problems and quite a lot with electrical components due to the increasing complexity of such components in all cars.
only time will tell if there are any significant problems. that said, you can get a c7 which is still a great car with tried and true systems and wait a year or two for the early adopters to help gm work out new teething issues.
