OK, maybe it wasn't a C8; but, I just rode my mountain bike out of the desert in Scottsdale to get a glimpse of a great sounding mid-engine vehicle, black, with a black camera truck sporting a huge boom and filming on Pima Rd, heading south toward the 101. The black truck beside the car made it difficult to confirm the car's lines. Unfortunately, it was gone in a flash but I heard the downshifting as it stopped at Thompson Peak and it didn't sound like my 6.2 L. Perfect day for promo films, eh.
Most of them are out there right now doing hot weather testing. You probably saw a C8, but the lack of camo is odd, I doubt they would be in public with it off, so perhaps it was not a C8... but they are out in your neck of the woods right now.

I doubt very seriously it was a C8 with no camo. GM has worked way too hard to keep it covered up to let a naked one get spotted on a public road before the reveal.
They'll no doubt have flashy promo videos ready to go on 7/18 so they gotta film them somewhere. That said, they usually pay to have roads closed for such filming.

Damn, I chose to ride Pass Mountain - Wild Horse - Twisted Sister today instead of Browns Ranch! With that said, I'd be surprised they'd have a car without the camo out filming in public like that.
New to the forum today. If they wanted to do hot weather testing they could come to Florida!...I'd freakout to see a C8 here.Waiting patiently for the upcoming reveal...My last car was an '84 with the old Doug Nash 4+3 manual...
I guess they could have had spotters on each end of the road, I'm not familiar with the area, but it is not hard to have 2 spotters, 5 miles away from each other, and then go back and forth in the middle between them, and if one radios that a car is coming, go ahead and pull over and put a sheet over the car.

GM has plenty of places to shoot video completely hidden from the public. Here's a prime example in Arizona:
Desert Proving Ground Yuma
General Motors Desert Proving Ground in Yuma County, Arizona
Desert Proving Ground Yuma is a facility co-built and leased by General Motors located within the US Army's Yuma Proving Ground, near Yuma, Arizona. The facility came fully online as of July 2009. The site contains an inner facility sitting on 2,400 acres (970 ha) with a 24-acre (9.7 ha) campus containing 98,000 square feet (9,100 m2) of building area and also has 40 miles of roadway. One of the main reasons that this site was chosen was the already imposed no fly zone which helps prevent unwanted photography of pre-production prototypes undergoing testing. The facility is also used by the US Army for their own testing requirements.
