Orange County, CA is my backyard. And when GM announced the location of the reveal, this was the first location that came to my mind. The old blimp hangars at the Tustin Air Base is perfect! There's plenty of room and the location is epic! If indeed this is the location?.....
If it's close to the size of #1 at lakehurst... its massive. It allegedly filled that whole thing too....
The blimp hangars at MCAS Tustin are about the same size as Lakehurst, but with slightly different proportions.
#1 Lakehurst: 966 feet (294 m) long, 350 feet (110 m) wide and 224 feet (68 m) high.
MCAS Tustin: 1,072 feet (327 m) long. 292 feet (89 m) wide and 192 feet (59 m) high.
They're not going to drop multiple models at once. That would be a waste. Coupe at the reveal, convertible later in the year, and the Z next year. Maybe in conjunction with the C8R.
Had breakfast with a friend of mine who is going to the reveal. He said that he was told by the person at GM who got him invited that the reveal was on the old Tustin marine base in the hangar.

I spent a large percentage of my adult career working out of OC. I have plenty of friends who live there. We joke about it. In truth living anywhere in Southern California is truly BETTER than 99% of the RoW despite the flaws.
There's nothing wrong with OC. Just like I give sh*t to friends living in Sandy Eggo, Santa Barbara, and a variety of other California paradises. I kid only because I'm jealous.
And before you go mention home prices, I live in one of the ONLY Southern California neighborhoods where home prices went UP during the housing crisis in 2008. What I paid for, and what the house is worth now, can probably DWARF more than half of the house in some of the more ritzy beach areas in Orange County.
But you OC guys do have better beaches, I'll give you that.

It ain’t about venue. It’s about the car. No one cares about the backdrop, except those crazy enough to spend a lot of money to “see” a new car.
No, for any number of reasons a blimp hanger in Tustin, CA, would not be my first choice, but if like the commercials, if the building is darkened and the lighting focuses on the car, like in the commercials they supposedly filmed there, then all is good. Most of us just want to see the car, not play a round of golf, overpay for a drink, or watch the sun set in the Pacific Ocean.
Maybe like Porsche, they parade a history of the Corvette through the building and then the C8 roars in.

I'm guessing that the location is based mostly on purpose/function... a facility that can accommodate and/or enable what GM wants/needs to accomplish.
Much the like what's stated in post #40 of this thread (that outlines how/why Zach Merck, Director of the "Chevy UP" commercial chose Tustin's Blimp Hangar), GM may have designed a reveal-event that requires a location that can provide specific attributes/abilities to pull it off.
The good news is that we'll find out in just a few weeks!

Sorry to totally disagree, but the hangar has been used before In GM advertising with incredible success.
It is not about location but where they have had success. I am going to guess the presentation in the hangars will be beyond anything we have seen before.

And with all that, I bet GM got to use it for next to nothing, ~$0.00. And being hardly ever used compared to private exclusive venues Chevy probably had an extended time access to its massive interior to setup and build it just right. And leave it in better condition then when they arrived.
