First I am not worried about the naturally aspirated motors overheating, now the turbo or forced induction motors they are much more difficult to keep cool. The engineers by this stage of the game should have the base/z51 cars and cooling pretty much figured out. Now for the TT or forced induction versions that will be another story. Those motors create a lot of power and heat and will need additional radiators & air ducts to keep things cooler. If my Lotus Evora S with a Toyota motor that was designed for a front engine car without having a supercharger and that car never overheated even in Texas on the track, I think GM can figure it out.
Everyone needs to stay calm and know journalist will beat the hell out of these cars well before we ever get ours delivered. I am not worried plus in the end no one is forcing me to buy one of these cars, if they start breaking down then all I do is move my deposit into another direction, to me it’s that simple.
"Media" has already had access to the cars. They've been tested/flogged on tracks lately in the deserts of the SouthWest. (All I'm allowed to say, atm.)
lol, you have me curious for entertainment purposes, I will have to read up. I remember the gas station thread, but I did not realize that was the same guy.
Welcome back Mike. You don’t want to start a debate, but here we go again... new member just this month but already quoting posts you read months ago. .
I'm very glad they are there and I hope they succeed. As another member pointed out, there are hotter places on the planet to test the cars, so again, I think common sense says the only reason they would go back to the Ring would be to do better than they did last time. Otherwise, if heat testing is the only goal, Arizona is nice and warm this time of year, as is the GM testing grounds at Yuma.
But back to the 2nd coincidence, the guy who looks identical to the guy driving the C8, and the other person who uploaded that photo here first, are coincidentally the 2 people talking about overheating and extra cooling. At minimum, it's a pretty impressive coincidence worth pointing out. I'm going to hit the sack, good chatting everyone.
What do you mean they would go back to the ring to do better than last time? They are not trying to set lap times yet, they are doing testing. If you look at all of their Ring attempts and their discussions, they only do lap time attempts with production cars, not cars still in development and covered in camo.
At this point, with the reveal in weeks, and production likely to start in 2019 for 2020 delivery, they ought to be testing Z06 variant engines for overheating not LT2’s.
What makes you think it's testing for heating issue Mike?
Nailed it I think. He’s being more careful to structure his rants differently this time since his old form made it easy to connect the dots (something he has said here and used to say all the time as MikeC7 and bbb). It’s hard to write in a different manner than your normal... so pretending to be someone else is pretty hard.
As for the car being there, they are NOT trying to set a time with a car wearing all kinds of wrap, fake panels, etc.
Who were the user(s) here on the forum who claimed the reason for the c8 delay was actually due to overheating, an idea that most others disputed?
I am not wanting to stir up an old debate, I am asking because I would like to keep tabs on those users who know what they are talking about. Apparently, whoever first claimed the C8 was overheating, is a person who is indeed connected. I saw their post about 3 months ago, but can't find it now.
Welcome back MikeC7/Irun4cops/bbbvettes.com. Perhaps if you dial it down by about 90% you might be allowed to hang around for awhile.
After what I was taught late last night, I will not be commenting here further. I see the rationale in waiting for the reveal and will not be saying another word on the topic and probably not anything else on this forum, except one final line below.
Even with the possibility put aside of Irun/BBB being the driver of the C8 in that photo, the only statement I will make is that I believe Irun/BBB and Mero have something profound in common with each other which he pointed out to me in our discussion, and I am not speaking about driving skill or anything to do with test driving. There is a crafty strategy at play that I see clearly now.
In our conversation, he also laughed and warned me that many of you would think that I was him.

Mike / BBB / Irun please give us a break it took all of 3 or 4 of your post to figure out it is you back on the forum.
Once again thinking you're smarter than the rest of the CF member and mods and we would not be able to figure out that you're back now under user name number 4.
Lets see if you can break your own record of getting the boot in less than 1 month like you did under BBB?
I will give it 2 or 3 weeks max before your sent packing for a forth time.
It's pretty clear the mods are choosing to look the other way for now it seems.
I am sure your frantic pace of posting will continue and your ego will quickly get the best of you.
Instead of insist I am BBB/Irun, you could save yourself a lot of time by adding the guy on facebook and you will see he has more c8 footage than anyone. Its not hard to figure out who he is. His first name is in his profile, his last name is mentioned many times in his posts.
I would think they would have been testing the cooling system on the Yuma track for the last year or two. Nürburgring runs this late could be for fine tuning calibrations I suppose.
Could it be that the test driver(s) is there to get some time on the 'Ring in the C8 and stay in Germany so after the reveal they can just tear off the camo and clock an official lap time?

You couldn't be more wrong from the truth, Mero doesn't post crap on the forum - ahole mike posted he's considered a god... gods usually don't go around tooting their own horn, nor need to.
Do us all a favor, keep your word on "will not be saying another word on the topic and probably not anything else on this forum". Quit while you're behind, it took you all of 2 days after you joined/make another userID on 6/28.
Supposedly, GM is back at the 'Ring' testing the cooling system on two prototypes. Stay Tuned........ (Pun Intended)

I am still waiting on why this pic means they are testing an "enhanced cooling" system and what about this pic proves they are at the Ring right now. Is there any proof to this claim or is this really just a pic of a mule and some speculation?
Interesting, yes. Out of the ordinary, for a pre-production test mule? Not even close.
I was just surprised because on other mules they weren't that visible. They're both trailer type lights available at almost any parts store that's why I pointed it out lol.
Why would GM go to the time and trouble and expense to send cars to Germany for "cooling" work?
As I type this, it's 75 degrees in Nurburg. High tomorrow is 85
As I type this, it's 111 degrees in Phoenix.
Mid 90's in Willow Springs by Tuesday.
Ditto Bowling Green.
Plenty of hot places in America to test cooling systems right now....
GM owns(along with the US ARMY), a very secluded test facility in Yuma, AZ where they can wring the car out, away from prying eyes. It is currently 104 degrees in Yuma.

Maybe these are the cars that are still running around, in Germany. But the prototypes have changed, a lot, since this version of it. I recognize the USA sticker from way back in like July, of last year when the car was seen at the Ring, for the first time. The cars now, are much better looking than this one. We’ve even seen better tail lights.
