I recently spoke with someone who would know that Chevy is already testing the Z06 version of the C8. I live about ten miles away from the GM Proving Grounds. The individual has a relative who works for GM. He had no other details. I recently purchased a 2019 Z06/Z07 and he asked why I didn't wait for the C8. Told him I have to have a manual trans plus it was my guess the Z06 version would not be available for at least a year after the base model. That is when he told me they were already testing them.
I'd prefer a NA C8 Z06 with around 600hp that weighs 400 lbs. less than the current Z06 instead of a 3,400+ - 3,500+ lbs. C8 Z06 with forced induction with 700hp. Though it won't happen.
From what I've always understood, three versions of the C8....
1. Entry Level with ~500hp
2. Z06 version with ~700hp
3. Zora version with ~1,000 hp
If and when the other two show up could be awhile. I didn’t get that intel from a friend of a worker at The proving Grounds I live close to who may or may not know more Enjoy what you have now! You can always change later. * except for Steven who better never sell that beauty. ❤️

Yes they were at VIR earlier this year. I was running with NASA and we were delayed entry because a super secret track rental said so... turns out they crashed one and had to clean it up.

A C8 was never crashed at VIR. The time claimed a C8 Z was crashed were extra panels taken off of a CT5 that was secret at the time and they left them there....
I just realized, they probably pushed back the reveal of the standard C8 so they could release the C8 Z06 at the Detroit auto show which is now happening in the summer. This would give them a years time between launches like previous generations.
I would be surprised if they release the Z06 at the same time at best it will be a 2021 model. They'll need the full production line just to meet the first year demand for the base model.

Right, which is likely why it will show at the 2020 Detroit Auto show in June.

Not surprising at all.
Remember what the differences are between a Stingray and a Z06 usually are:
1) more power (200hp in this case)
2) more track-focused chassis
3) interior cosmetics
Those things are easily doable.
The only thing that MIGHT take more time than usual is the V8 TT.
The Zora (if AWD) Hybrid will be even more removed from the base car.

Ok... I was there and a friend found the panels. I saw them with my own eyes. Another friend who I don’t want to narc was there during the testing and claims to have seen the TT car. He could have been lying but doubt it, but doubt it.
