Just curious I have never been in a mid engine car before and wondering what the noise level might be? It would seem to me that where the motor is located it would be difficult to control the noise unless noise canceling technology has come a long way.
My 488 is a pleasure to drive, you can hear the engine but not overwhelming, I would expect the C8 to be similar?
I assume the C8 will have a louder cabin, because Corvette is an "all engine all the time" sort of car that Chevy seems proud of, and that they like engine noise a lot.
I will enjoy every sound that this car makes and nothing about it will bother me. Unlike some other Corvettes I've owned, this one won't see snow and salt. I have a Corvette with Michelin AS3+ tires for winter use. All is well.
I am so hyped about my new Corvette C8! .. Yes, I'm speaking it into existence! My C7 is a great car, but also one that has been a source of aggravation with all the loud NVH associated with the road noise transmitted through the open hatch area of the car! I cannot see any way the C8 can be as bad as the C7 is when it comes to cabin noise. Having a solid bulkhead/firewall behind the driver and having an enclosed cabin devoid of both the engine and the trunk areas has to make cabin noise better. ...

I drove a Pantera once....nothing but glorious American V8. It was a long time ago but I'm sure I'd find it annoying now considering how cars have evolved.
My first new car was a 91 MR2 Turbo. I modded it a bit and the turbo's spooling up, even during normal driving....drove me absolutely bonkers....right behind my head. Most of it was due to mods to the air intake system....ended up returning that part to stock.
Ive never driven a mid engine car, but cannot logically think of any reason why cabin noise would be any different from a front engine car. Its not like they are going to skip over the sound deadening or put the motor in the cab with you. Its a separate compartment just like before, with exhaust exiting the rear like before. I don't really see how it can or will be different.
Cabin noise will be a lot less when compared to the C6/7 coupe (especially the Z versions, due to larger tires). The Vert versions of the C6/7 had a lot less cabin noise due to the additional "top storage area" for the vert. Most of the cabin noise in the Coupe C6/7 was due to the rear tire noise being reflected into the cabin by the rear hatch. The C8 will not have this issue, I predict a much quieter cabin with the C8. Just my opinion based on driving an older NSX, Evora and R8 (all mid-engine).
It's very quiet inside, I don't hear the engine at all while cruising. If you have NPP and in track mode on exhaust you'll hear it when you open it up.
I wonder if the HTC is quieter than the coupe? Both with top up and top down (or targa off). I would think maybe slightly quieter. Has anyone ridden in both to compare?
My cousin has just over 7000 miles on his car (VIN 000403) and while we both agreed it was very quiet when new (I drove it at 300 miles...fantastic), he's now fussing that he hears much more tire noise. His "sound-o-meter" is phone call noise, FWIW. He just came out of an '18 Z06, BTW, and I've been in my '13 GS since August of '12 as a frame of reference.
Anyway, just tossing this out there for considerations and observations.
Of course. My point was that the quiet C8 cabin might not be quiet at 7000 miles, and I'm guessing there aren't many 7000 mile cars out there yet. VIN 00403 was delivered March 10th and is a daily driver.
