How do you know this? No one on this board that I know of has ridden in a C8. A bit premature. A C7 in tour mode is very quiet, in my opinion.
cuz I do, it's pyzics.
Every ME car I've driven has been a lot quieter. Most of the cabin noise in C5/6/7 Coupe is due to the rear tire wheel wells in the rear hatch. ME rear wheel wells are in engine compartment.

Road noise like someone said comes from where RUBBER MEETS ROAD and reverberates in rear cargo area. I cannot stand it when on highway or long trips. Touring mode has no effect on this. Love the sound of the exhaust pipes. Music to my ears........! I am hoping that the GLASS DIVIDER between engine and seats stops this noise ! Also hope the BOSE sound deadening system as I understand it HELPS in this regard. IF SO I WILL BUY ONE.
Tadge said the C8 has less road noise than prior generations due to the rear tires being further back, and there being a firewall with sound deadening materials between the driver and wheelhouses. Also both the front an back windows have acoustic glass.
Easy to believe the C8 will be quieter than the C7. The primary contributor to road noise within the cabin of the C7 was the rear fender wells which were part of the cabin's interior. Not so with the C8.
FWIW, I read a comparo of the (then) new 718 Boxster vs Cayman, and despite being a ragtop, the Boxster was quieter... this was attributed to the Cayman's hatchback design, which created an echo chamber behind the seats ala C7 coupe... the Boxster engine was fully enclosed with a fire-wall. Makes some sense.
Also, most "road noise" is generated by the tires, so it depends more on the tire design, and road surface, than the fundamental design of the car.

by design it will be better on road noise. my audi r8 ME is more quiet than my c7 ZR1. although I added noise deadening the the c7 and they are very similar now. the c7 zr1 is a completely different car on a trip now. easily worth the effort.
BOSE sound deadening system? What is this? Haven't heard about this.
Old news, do some searching here. You will find it. Bose radios have done this on many other cars for years. It is tuned to mask certain sound waves. It does help some. The new C8 has even added a few sound tubes to put back in some of the exhaust sound.
