I cannot recall a performance car that has had all the press, hype and hoopla the C8 has with no driving reviews, Nürburgring times, etc. This is a car, not a 2-D rendering from a configurator. If there really are 200 of these out there already making the show and tell rounds, why have no selected journalists been allowed to drive it and publish their thoughts? Awaiting tuning details before production commences in December? All we have is that 0-60 time betters the ZR1? I am on a list but wonder if we are all being sucked into an ingenious marketing scheme. If it really is ALL THAT, why no driver reviews?
The 0-60 time claim is 100% hearsay. There's been zero verification of it. Nobody knows how the car will perform. They're hoping all the hype will sell the 2020.

Excuse the trolls. The C8 forum seems to have more trolls than any other subforum and they have trouble recognizing good questions and tend to respond in the rudist way they can. Now to your question. I totally agree with you. So far we have one number.....0-60. Does that mean it has a speed limiter at 60? I suspect not, but they have done an extremely good job picking the one number that a lot of folks focus on and that likely has as little to do with performance as any other number and they hit a good one and that is all they have released. And as somebody else has said they don't have a production car out yet, so this was a handmade preproduction car that may or may not reflect what will be sold when manufacturing starts.
But it certainly has been an effective campaign as it appears that orders are streaming in for the first year run even though most of us have learned that it is not the world's best year to buy of any generation introduced to date. And other new cars have put journalists in preproduction cars for testing for years. Heck, one of the large west coast based car magazines actually got a year long loner of a newly introduced model that was actually a preproduction build. They have been good to mention that on each problem they have that they haven't been able to replicate on a production model as their year grows long in the tooth and the actual production models are built, sold and available.
Even though production is rumored to start in December, Chevrolet has told Spring Mountain, or at least SMMP has claimed, that 40 C8s well be delivered in October to allow SMMP to start dealer training on the C8. Will these be hand built or production cars?? So there is a lot of confusing information out there. So far Corvette Marketing has been brilliant in only releasing tasty tidbits and leaving the rest up to speculation.
I’ve been curious too, they got tons of play out of the zl1 ring time. But, it’s only August. These won’t be hitting the streets til probably March, plenty of time for driving reviews once they start production.
Jesus....the car was just debuted 3 weeks ago. They haven't started making them yet. They actually haven't finished the coding on the car....that will happen once they start production.
