Default Amusing Comments by Corvette Racing from 2016

https://www.hotrod.com/articles/body...e-racing-c7-r/

As mentioned, the 5.5L (known as LS5.5R) naturally aspirated direct-injected V8 is basically the same as 2015. The rules for forced induction in the class limit to displacement of non-naturally-aspirated engines to 4.5L, but that’s not the only reason that the C7.R doesn’t run the supercharged 6.2L LT4. “The problem with superchargers is they aren’t conducive to road racing,” said Louth. “As the air charge gets hot you end up losing power. You can only have a turbocharger if it’s on the production car. There’s also a displacement limit.” Kent broke in to point out that in a choice between a large displacement normally aspirated engine or a smaller displacement turbocharged engine, the complexity and the cost and the weight and the reliability of a turbocharger system makes it more of a challenge than a “nice, light, crisp revving” normally aspirated engine. “Plus we’d also lose that unique unmistakable sound of our thundering small-block V8. You turn into a Hoover when you put a turbocharger on.”
That sort of puts a damper on turbocharged mid-engine corvette rumors doesn’t it?
“They’ve been talking about that for 30 years,” said Louth, completely nonplussed.
Can't wait to see what the future is for the C8.R
