That red engine cover is much darker than the online configurator.

Awesome. I'm going to be there tomorrow, excited to get to take a look. I hope its setup, sometimes the manufacturers displays aren't up on the Thursday of the reunion.

If nothing else, it does verify the red engine cover matches the valve covers (which I guess we assumed).

Those new C8’s are so fast, the body panels fly right off them!

That engine cover color should have been the replacement for LBR, it would look awesome on the car itself. It appears to be very close to Mazda's amazing Soul Red Crystal.

Pretty sure the production cars will have "red red" valve covers and not long beach red.

So it's the red one that's $59,995, right?

C7 Laguna Seca comparisons from FastestLap:

14. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Randy Pobst 1:32.46 765 ps / 1651 kg (0.46 ps/kg)

16. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C7) Randy Pobst 1:33.05 659 ps / 1606 kg (0.41 ps/kg)

41. Corvette Grand Sport Randy Pobst 1:35.62 466 ps / 1583 kg (0.29 ps/kg)

The C8 has slightly more power than a GS at 505 ps but is porkier at 1633 kg (wet, est.). This gives 0.31 ps/kg, basically the same power to weight as a Grand Sport

The weight distribution of the Grand Sport was measured at 49.5 / 50.5% F/R

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...balancing.html

Mid-engines have 55 - 60% of its weight on the rear wheels, the C8 is probably at the higher end and will likely have an understeer problem (says Jim Mero)

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/06/...e-c8-corvette/

So it's going to be a battle of putting more power down vs. understeer. Going to make for some entertaining laps!

My bid is 1:34.5.

I was going to drive down to see this. But I figured it would be this exact setup and you wouldn’t get to sit in the car. But it probably would have been worth the trip to see the cut away. I just wanna sit in the car to see if I fit in it.
