#98 on Kerbeck.
already gave them my RPO codes and config.
Should be getting my official order sheet by the end of this week. They got to me this week and I was #98.
Holy cow, looks like they are not moving very fast.
Looks like I may be waiting a while. To place my order.
Don't worry about it. The long it takes to order, the longer you get to hold onto your 5% down. Besides, when you live in the Northeast, the car is staying home until the spring anyway.
Thanks guys! I'm super excited to finally get my first Corvette! I almost pulled the trigger on a C7 Z06 a couple of years ago but still was enjoying my STS-V at the time. Eventually I want to build a 68-72 C3 restomod for my analog 3 pedal fun.
I did a frame off restoration. On my 72 lt1 convertible, with factory air.
It was a blast to drive with the munci 4 speed. Talk about a burn out machine.
But I have to tell you. I had replace almost everything. Everything is vacuum operated.
I put over 20k into. And sold it 10 years later for 27,000.
I put my deposit on July 12. I’m number 502. I did receive a email from them that they will call me, to build my car. But not until everyone on the list before me, builds there corvette.
Based on my best guestimate, I think you should be looking at a delivery by late spring if not earlier. No need to be concerned.
What’s with the additional 5% deposit? That makes no sense. Are there that many people that place an order for a car like this that back out? And so what if they do? They’ll sell it in a heartbeat.

??? The first was 1000 to hold the line. The 5% is the good faith payment to order the car. They are ordering your car to order, so they want to either ensure you finish your commitment or they get 5% for their trouble to have to sell a custom ordered car. For example with the C7 you could get personalizations with your name. Would you want to buy a corvette that says Master Bater etched into the custom vin? The 1000 dollar hold is part of the 4% so if your car comes to 75000 MSRP you would need to come up with an additional 2750. 5% is actually not that much.
I almost went to custom order a C7 earlier this year and they wanted 10% of MSRP

Not sure if you are just over trusting or simply naive. 5% of 80,000 is only $4,000 If a person special ordering a non-necessity such as a Corvette can't part with $4,000 +/-, should they really be trusted to pick up the car when it comes in? If a dealer didn't take a good faith deposit, they could end up getting stuck with a bunch of cars that may not be spec'd with popular options. The whole point of the special order is so the dealer can get the customer what they want in a timely fashion without having to tie up money in inventory unnecessarily. Think about it, if "only" 100 people walked away from the special ordered car and the dealer had to put those cars out for sale which may or may not be optioned in a way that the car would be an easy sale, that's potentially $8 million dollars the dealer would have in inventory carrying costs.

Exactly, if you have a problem coming up with 5k now.
What are you going to do next spring when you need 90+ k to pay it off.
My spec. is 93,000 + 7% sales tax and dmv & title

I would love to see that get approved. It could actually sell for more 😛

I guess I’m naive. Thanks for doing the math for more though, its tough.
In my experience I have never had to put any additional money down outside of a “hold” deposit. Those have ranged from $1000 to $2500. Maybe it’s because I come across as a trusting person, or just naive and they feel sorry for me, or maybe it’s because of the dealerships I’ve worked with in the past just don’t operate like that. I guess I could see if you’re going crazy and putting together some awful color combinations, but that would be really hard to do on the C8. Not like a custom pink interior is available. This is my first corvette, so maybe that’s just part of the way some dealers do business with Vettes. No big deal. Just don’t like people sitting on my money any longer than they have to, whether its $1 or $10000.

I get what you are saying. When I went to order my other car which is just as expensive as a vette and probably more difficult to sell, the dealer didn't ask for any deposit. But, they knew me, I was a local repeat customer and I wasn't ordering anything crazy and I already proved to them that I was serious. The car came in and I picked it up.
With the Vette, it's a whole different ball game, Mega dealers such as Kerbeck are dealing with first time customers 3000 miles away, these deals can't be done on a handshake and a wink of an eye nor should they. They want the customer to have some skin in the game or it's not worth the risk since there is someone waiting next in-line to do it without any issue.
With the original $1000 to get on the list, I just wire transferred the $3500 to get the build started. I was #98 on their list. Hoping the car comes rather sooner then later. What are you early guys thinking, February?
Congratulations to everyone who put their order in!

I'd guess Feb - Mar... I hope for earlier but don't think we will be that lucky.
Not a bad idea to have the holiday mindset behind them and humming along building a steady stream of cars before ours go down the line.
Plus, as noted in one of the NCM presentations, the line will run slowly until build week 7 (early March). More time to get everything right...I'm good with that..
If your estimate is good. Looks like kerbeck is only doing about 130 to 150 a month.
And they said they have over 1,200 allocations.
At that rate. Guys like me will not get a 2020.
