This is exactly what I heard at Carlisle from the Corvette production folks. Told me I should not expect my car before Valentine's Day and that there would likely be a one-month quality hold.
In Early October 2013 I paid $1700 for Z51 on my C7. Later that model year the price for Z51 went to $5,000. You never know until your deposit is accepted.
If they change the price in their first year I would be shocked. 2021 I definitely understand.
Didnt they price increase the 2014 c7 in March and then again that year too?
I wont be shocked if the c8 gets two increases. It allowed them the media blits of "under 60 thousand" which was brilliant. Not that i think a base price of 65,000 isnt warranted either. Id pay it.

Yes they did have a price increase in 2014 one for sure before June. The second one not sure of.
There were price increases on the C7 shortly after launch, but you also started seeing some nice discounts after the first year too. It all balances out and by year 2 you can save quite a bit once the rebates and incentives become more aggressive and the used market starts having lots of inventory.
In terms of timing nobody should expect a car in their driveway in 2019 and I would guess Feb-March is when the first cars start showing up in customers hands.

Z51 option was $2800 and increased to $4000 in March of 2014 with an additional increase of $2000 in the base car price. Z51 was never $5k until NPP was added to the package

Yes and anyone who ordered a C7 Z51 without NPP likely regretted it. NPP should have always been standard on a Z51, and honestly from my perspective, even a base C7/C8 should never order a car without it.

They also made the vehicle available on the employee purchase plan a few days before the increase. I bought my C7 from dealer stock and was able to get the employee discount and the lower price on my purchase.
With the price increase, the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe now starts at $53,993, while the drop-top model now starts at $58,995. Pricing for the Z51 Performance Package (Performance Traction Management; electronic limited-slip differential; dry-sump oiling system; integral brake, differential and transmission cooling; upgraded wheels, tires, brakes and a unique aero package for improved high-speed stability) has also increased by $1200 to $4000. A 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe with the Z51 package now costs $57,995; where before, the same car was priced at $54,795 or $3200 less. Chevrolet says the adjustments were made in order to meet the demand.
The price increase only affects cars built after March 3, so existing cars on dealer lots built before that date should still be offered at the old price.
So we could very well see a C8 price increase mid year......
