It might be smart to order a sub $60k configuration. odds are GM won’t build many of them.

Mine is sitting on the inventory manager’s desk at $62,880.
I was number 1 on allocation list, but because I’m going 1LT, I’m getting passed over for 1st round allocation. The dealer was nice enough to call and offer me the chance to step up to 2LT package before they passed me. Nice try, sales guy, nice try.

So I am getting the 1LT and PDR (Im assuming since you have to get Nav with PDR, I will be week 10). I know its 10 week constraint. Question is, since its going to take 10 weeks to ramp up and they will probably hold the 1st batch for 4 weeks, Will I get my car 10 weeks behind everyone else if the order is placed in Dec? Or would in reality, be like 4 weeks behind since they start production the same time they are taking my order? Just curious, because the orders they took today wont start being made until 1st week of December at the earliest

Look on the bright side if you're waiting... The first few thousand cars could be more prone to problems...

Call me a “cynic” but anyone else out there think that GM hasn’t figured out a fair number of the 1LT orders will “step up” to 2LT rather than wait?

Why does a "3 week" constraint even mean when they won't even start building until December?

Stated another way, why isn't everything on restraint until they start manufacturing?

I think they’re banking on the “step up”. Options are certainly beneficial to the dealers’ and manufacturers’ bottom line.

But IMO, they waited too long. They actuality might have suckered me into 2LT if they had struck while the iron was hot and opened the order banks right after the reveal..... now we’re almost 60 days past the initial excitement, and while I still really want the car, the thought of paying thousands more for stuff I don’t want is almost as ridiculous as some of the recent C8 threads. These irons are considerably cooler now, and that 1LT will get here when it gets here.

Options not only benefit the bottom line, but it exercises the product to the maximum, meaning most items are installed and they can check the supply chain and installation quality and processes.

The latest constraint report is lack of production workers.

If that's true it's not surprising at all. The "extras" are not regular "GM employees." They are temps - completely expendable, which is great for GM, not so much for transplant workers. I seriously gave some thought to doing it, so I thoroughly researched it, until I concluded it's not worth being away from the family regardless of how much I like the C8.

Remember this is no small task for management. What was production last year (19) - 19K or so? Yes, frustrating - agree.

Notwithstanding the strike, what did GM say the constraint timeline was for the "late delivery" ground kits? Specifically the 5V7 molded ones?

Default Best case for a manufacturer

Best possible situation for GM. You get a 3 to 10 month advance notice of the parts you’ll need to complete sold, not inventory units.

Constraints are applied to orders entered based on the anticipated parts availability at he expected build timeframe for that order.

Is the z51 with mrc 1 lt 10 weeks from sept 12th or 10 weeks from december 2nd plus 2 weeks for christmas break?

if the strike lasts two weeks do the workers give up their christmas break if they want to earn the income they lost during the strike?

how come the z51 with mrc 1LT doe not say (week 10 & beyond PRODUCTION)

the word production is missing like the other constraints. Is it a typo or does gm just start producing z51 mrc 1LT s intermingling when and if inventory of 2 and 3 LT parts become short on hand ?

i would assume various 2 and 3 LT parts inventory runs short from time to time during production and switching over to fill in 1LT s would make sense.

or am I dreaming...

otherwise what this graph shows that z51 fe4 2 &3LT s can be build from week 1 and week 6 to 9 they can produce z51 w/o mrc in 1LT but if you want z51 w mrc with a 1LT interior thats 10 weeks and beyond...

just seems weird since a z51 with mrc in 1LT should be more profitable than a standard 1LT ...

1LT with mag ride orders won't be accepted until the December cycle and production of those orders is scheduled for week 10 and beyond. 10th week of production (assuming they start Dec 2) will be Feb 17. It's production weeks, not calendar weeks.

Another question if you dont mind. When will your order go to SRE which I believe locks in before the projected price increase..

is it code 2000 or code 3000 and you are price protected.?

the heavy cost of the strike has me wondering if I should just order a z51 fe4 with 2LT rather than wait for the same vehicle with 1LT...seems its ten weeks out...

i believe the 2014 c7 that began deliveries or production Im not sure which began in september of 2013 had a price increase by march 13 th or so in 2014 ...

do you believe your vehicle delivered in the spring of 2020 will have a protected price

just shooting the breeze.

btw I like that your shirt in your avatar matches the rapid blue c8.

pretty awesome color.
