Default 2021 C8 production

With the roll out of the 2020 C8 delayed, production starting in Dec of 2019 and ending, I’m guessing July of 2020. What would be the next start up month in 2020 for production of the 2021 C8? When would delivery’s start?

its been said by multiple different sources that the 2021 production year will start in September, which will line up with and get back on track with other models and the once standard time frame of new model releases.

Every normal production year has started towards the end of July with first deliveries in August.

So I’ve been wrapping my head around this late release and the constraint thing. If I understand it, we could have people with early deposits that have certain colors and options that could or will be getting their delivery’s as late as May or June?

After which the plant will close down in July, with the 2021 C8 starting in say September and delivery’s of 2021 C8’s by December of 2020? Does that sound about right?

This would mean that 5-6 months after taking delivery of your 2020 C8, it would already be 1 year old.

Also with the possibility of some changes to next years model that would be welcome to a lot of members on this forum, such as but not limited to:

1. Z51 with rear spoiler delete.

2. Z51 with front lift that has front coil overs WITH adjustable seats.

3. Body colored accents that leave the rear ents Carbon Flash.

4. Stand alone MRC without Z51.

YES....this happened for the 2018 model year they shut down the factory in late November or so of 2017when they changed over to the new paint facility....then started back up production the middle of January 2018.....the cars they made were 2019's....I know as I ordered mine and took delivery in May 2018 as a 2019 model.....so my car is a 2019 but I have had it for nearly a year and a half.

Yup! I bought my current 2019 C7 one year ago this month. I might just have to re-think this whole thing, wait an extra 6-8 months and there could be some welcome changes.

My '18 GS was built on Jan 2 so some 2018's did come out of the new paint facility. When I bought in Feb., the '19's were rolling...

Your timeline is off.

The plant was shutdown in August 2017 for refurb and bringing the new paint plant on-line. 18MY cars started production early before the shutdown. The plant reopened in early November 2017, and 18 production resumed, continuing until Friday, January 26, 2018. 19MY production began 3 days later on Monday, January 29, 2018. There were zero differences between new plant 18 and 19 models, except that the latter got the new 0W-40 ESP Mobil 1.

My '18 was built the last week of production on January 24, 2018. It was a very short production year (just over 9K built), but there were "old plant" and "new plant" 18s built. When my car was delivered to Criswell, the truck had both 18s and 19s on board.

ok my time line was a little off.....but my point was the 18's had a very short production year....and '19's have had a much longer one.

Same thing happened with the C5 introduction. They made the '97 from January - July, less than 10K units, then switched over to the '98's in the summer of '97 and made 30,000+ '98's.

I am with most of this information with some slight modification. Yes, the normal shutdown is July, but the start of production is inormally in August unless there has been some major modifications during the shutdown with first deliveries in early to mid September. Now BG scheduling has been all over the place since 2017, so whether or not we return to more a "normal" schedule is unknown. Hopefully we will which does mean that a lot of new C8 owners will only have their car for a few months before a "newer" C8 comes out.

If the production of 2021 begins in September, then people who get their cars in June July and August will have outdated cars almost the second they drive them off the lot. Means those who are financing are going to be possibly even more Upside down. But hey what can be better your 1120 at Kerbeck

There will be no plant shutdown between 2020 end of production and 2021 start of production. That happens between generations, not between model years unless there is a major plant reconfiguration for some other reason (like the new paint shop/major expansion in 2017.
