Default Convertible headroom?

Has anyone seen or even sat in the C8 Vert? I'm on a list for a C8 and dealer says I should be able to switch to a Vert when it is time to spec out my car. I am 6'4 220 lbs. and fit very well in my old C5's and C6. I'm thinking of getting the convertible because of my size and physical ailments. The Vert should make it much easier to get in and out. I had to pass on the C7 because of the very small interior - just could not fit! I am wondering if the convertible top will allow more or less headroom than the coupe. The GM tour is coming to my area Oct. 31. I hope there is a Vert to be seen and sat in. I just cannot bring myself to order one without knowing if I fit or not.

Usually the convertibles have less headroom with the top up. And since you can't have the top down all the time, that may be an issue.

Based on the fact that the height of the C-8 A Pillar Windshield Header will be exactly the same in the Convertible as the Coupe Targa version, just go to one the Dealer Reveals and see if you fit.

There will be some Car Shows in November featuring the C-8 Convertible. Not sure if they will be on the floor so people can sit in them though.

There is no convertible yet available to see or sit in. A teaser photo was released during the C8 coupe reveal, and the convertible will be revealed on October 2.

From the photos I've seen the rear of the convertible roof slopes DOWNWARD towards the rear more than the targa does. No one knows but I would not be surprised if it has less headroom.

If you didn't fit in the C7, you won't fit in the C8. That's how the big man sizing reports are coming here on forum. If you don't fit in the targa top C8, you won't fit in the convertible either.

I read that too.

FWIW from my recollections, my C7 convertible has as much more headroom than the targa C7s, I sat in at numerous Chev. dealerships' showrooms while shopping for a C7, vert. BTW I'm a 6'0"er, with long *** legs.

Your challenge may be to have the Chev. dealer affix the roof before you sit in the C8. I doubt whether they're going to want to accommodate your request. The hubub excitement at the C8 exposition displays are of the targa roof piece off.

That is incorrect. We have seen tens of large and tall people posts here with folks saying that they fit so much better in the C8.

As for whether the HT will have less headroom, how about if we wait 19 days until the HT’s reveal before more false conclusions are made.

Don't want to spend that kind of money not knowing if I fit or not. Hopefully some very tall people (over 6'4") will be able to sit in it top up and down and relate their impressions before I order. If I do not fit I will be forced to go over to the Dark Side and get a very roomy 911 Cabriolet.....$$$$$$$$….OUCH!

I made this thread awhile back. I'm 6'3" and track all my cars. The allure of a trackable hardtop vert had me very interested, but that roof support bar would be bad news for me with a helmet. I went ahead and ordered a coupe (better cooling/venting, cheaper, lighter, 100% assured it will pass HPDE tech).

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-roof-bar.html

Not a good sign for a tall guy wanting to wear a helmet and have a trackable vert.

I’m assuming the seats are up on the coupe because it looks like the vert has more headroom.

Tough call. The convertible does not look much different inside as far as roof height goes....just NEED to sit in one before ordering....

The back window in that convertible sure does look small. Even compared to my C7 Convertible. Not sue I like it enough to pull the trigger on an order yet. Still need to see one in the wild.

As a fellow tall guy, I was also concerned with fit. I sat in the ELB w/ grey interior C8 targa at Findlay in Las Vegas 8/29. While there, I asked Mikey, the Corvette rep. driving this car from dealer to dealer, about the headroom in the 'vert. He said it has more headroom. How does he know? I didn't ask, so.....

By the way, I fit much better in the C8 targa than the C7. I posted this earlier:

I fit!!

I'm 6'4, 215 lbs, 36" inseam, 37" sleeve, and 38" waist. I sat in the ELB car at Findlay in Las Vegas last week. I had 'two fingers' of room between my knees and the dash. I had '3 fingers of room between my head and the roof. I sit more upright than reclined, so reclining gives even more room. You just want to make sure your head is under the roof and not the 'targa bar' . Speaking with Mikey, the Corvette specialist who is taking this specific car to dealerships, mentioned that the convertible will have more headroom, for you long torso guys.

I am concerned with 'tall guy' visibility. It was not a problem for me. Here are some photos with my camera at eye level.
