What are the base C8/Stingray Side Scoop functionalities? I am assuming one/both are for an air to water cooler of some sort for the differential/DCT? And I also assume the engine radiator(s) are up front? I am one of the guys waiting on the Z06 and hoping for a 4 liter TT DOHC V8 and just playing some mental games about how the air scoops will function on the Z as you need some BIG Intercooler air inlets. Any thoughts?
As a point of reference here is my old 997 TT with a picture of the Side scoop intercooler intake.
The upper portion of both side scoops feed air into the engine intake. The right scoop contains an additional cooler if you opt for the Z51. The left intake has a fan feeding cool air into the engine compartment.
Both scoops have fans feeding cool air into the engine compartment at low speeds, when there isn't much natural air flow. Per GM engineers at Carlisle, the cooler in the right scoop of the Z51 is used for cooling the transaxle and e-diff, and not the engine. The two radiators in front are connected such that they act as one large radiator: the output of one radiator is input to the second, and then routed back to the engine.

Thanks...interesting, so I was right in my swags. I wonder what they will do for the Z06 intercoolers then?

Hmm, very interesting...so both intakes feed the engine air intake...So where will the Z's presumed TT's intercoolers air come from? Wide(r) body could give the Engineers some options. I didn't expect the Z to be a Widebody but perhaps it will.
