I think ( we will know for sure on the 3rd) that not only is there no viewing window, there will also be a cover over the engine to help create a barrier between the engine and the top when retracted.
Access to just view the engine will require this cover to be removed.
No biggie, just different.

That cover will be part of the hatch. When you raise the hatch, the roof and it's compartment will come up with it.
Incorrect. The hard top, when lowered, will sit vertically behind the seats and will not move when the engine cover/rear hatch is raised.
LOL. Zero chance. Have you even seen the car?
There's nowhere near enough room behind the seats for the two-piece split top. You'd lose 5 or 6 inches of leg room. Aside from that, the central tunnel means the top can't go all the way to the floor, so it would block your view from the rear view mirror. And the top is WIDER than the interior.
Tunnel in the way of where the top would go:
Lot's of room behind the seat. (Note that the angled part of the rear bulkhead comes out forward of the seatback. Are they going to bend the roof around it?
That "video" you saw of the roof coming down behind the seats was a computer render by someone who has no affiliation with GM and never saw the car. It was a concept, not a reveal.

Exactly... the video with the top storing vertically was a guess by Chazcron who did the great renders leading up to the reveal. The top will lay flat over the engine; hence no visible engine.

I predict that is not true...the company GM contracted for the roof/spider design also did the McLaren Spiders so I predict it will look just like this, with a horizontal storage:
I live just south of Cape Canaveral so am gong to the 3rd public reveal at the Rocket Garden at KSC so will know for sure then...want to bet a bottle of 30 year old single malt scotch?
