This has been covered numerous times here -- including just a few days ago. You are correct, it is not suede. It is also not Alcantara, which is a brand name and not the one used by Corvette.
I think almost everyone knows it is not real leather based suede nor the brand Alcantara, but if we are correcting people, we should get it right. GM calls it Sueded Microfiber.
