C6 and C7 both had Z06 intro about a year after the base car for sale in the next model year. No idea if C8 will continue the trend of the last two generations, but in the absence of any other data, it's as good a guess as any at this point.
My thinking, is that since sales are so strong on C8. GM will delay Z model longer then other generations.
best way to get all the cash from Vette people, then after you have that, hit them again with the vert or the Z06......drag it out and sell to them and then sell to them again!
A quick pivot, based on what I believe was around a $25k premium on base C7 Stingray to base Z06, you guys think C8Z base of somewhere between $85 and $90K?

Depending on standard features that seems about right.
I think its going to depend on how well the base model does. If its hot, they’ll wait. The Z versions are used to “goose” production and maintain output levels if needed.

I say no way IF its a twin turbo flat plane crank. Base model no options will be 100K+. You heard it here first. Way more R&D than went into a C7Z
I'm not sure they can delay it too much even if the base model is popular if they want to keep their idea about shorter refresh cycles in tact. Of course the term 'shorter' can be relative in that they could still delay it a bit given the popularity of the base/Z51 models and have a 6-7 year refresh cycle vs 5-6 years. There is also nothing saying that they are going to have all the same model offerings for the C8 that they did for the C7 (Base, Z51, Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1). Fewer models could allow them to maintain the shorter cycles they talked about while still providing a good range of options for everyone.

I remember reading this when it came out. Of course some of that info turned out not to be correct, but the interesting part is about the prototype with 900-1000 hp warping the frame and fracturing the glass. IF this is the Z, then the delay may be significant since there seems to be a lot of R&D left to be worked out. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vid...corvette-delay
