So this may be a dumb question but does the deposit normally get applied to the purchase price of the vehicle? My dealer quoted me msrp + $5000 deposit not applied to the price which seems high.
Your dealer is screwing you. They are using your deposit as a dealer markup (ADM).
Yea that’s what I figured, I told them I’d go somewhere else. I was pretty sure since it’s literally a deposit that it normally goes towards purchase price.
MacMulkin - the second largest Corvette dealer - has allocations available. They sell at MSRP, and charge zero dealer fees. Multiple ways to get the car:
They can help you setup a Courtesy Delivery near you.
You can pick it up at their dealership (in New Hampshire) and drive it home.
You can do National Corvette Museum Delivery and drive it home from there.
You can have them ship it in an enclosed trailer directly to your home for about $1.25 per mile)

Not uncommon with local dealers who sell few Vettes and have a limited allocation. The large Chevy/BMW/Mercedes dealer in town told me they were going to sell their limited allocation of C8's over list price. Didn't ask how much as I was planning to buy from Kerbeck as much for "probable constraints" that would give Kerbeck a much a higher probability of getting exactly what I want IN ADDITION to getting it at MSRP.
At least they told you it would be $5000 over up front so you can decide. But even then be careful as I have mentioned in other posts there are common techniques dealers can use to get more profit! Like fees (which even the GM website to be up to $1000 at the dealers discretion- can be zero;) local advertising (which although some expend should be the cost of doing business NOT charged to you;) putting etched VIN number on all glass as theft protection (after negotiating to buy a new car some years ago the dealer tried to pull that and showed me the windows saying it was already done- I said I was walking- had to get the owner's approval BUT I didn't pay;) a $1500/$2000 ceramic coating, etc etc. Also if trading a car they can low ball the amount. They can get large kick-backs from financing companies so need to define those fees and interest!
Need to have all costs defined before signing! I've bought my last 3 Vettes from large volume dealers- no hassle and a low price (when it's not like now with high demand and limited supply.)
