c8jake is spot on. GM has all the parts to make the c7s they had planned. They are not about to scrap everything (blocks/bodys gearboxes, chassis, etc etc) . Having joined in August with a deposit on my first corvette., I am coming to he conclusion that the forum is another facebook, twitter, instagram event with way to much to sift thru to find the right info. Actually, if people gave a thought to what they were saying, they might not say it!! But I guess thats the USA today
I've been a member here for over 15 years and the discourse on this forum has devolved to a level that's just as bad as what you see everywhere else on the internet.
If the strike goes on much longer I may very well opt to go 2021 and bail on a late 2020 car. As I'm a LATE order positiion guy with my dealer. They stated probably august/September.
I know this was HALF a CENTURY ago, times are FAR different, etc....But, I recall the difference between the 1968 and the 69 Corvettes. My neighbor had a 68 my Dad bought a similar 69 Coupe.
The 68's were plagued with vacuum issues with the lights and wiper panel. Our 69 was not.
We had more pleasing front fender vents. The 68's were different and not as attractive.
The 68's had a push button opening for the doors, the 69's had a FAR more pleasing, flush mounted opener, that was the future style for many years.
Their 68 was plagued with squeaks and rattles ours wasn't. I know 2 cars do not a thorough study make. But can' get the differences out of my head.
May be worth going 2021?

Omg my c8 tpw is 1/6/20 . ....... I put a $5,000 deposit and already traded my c7 in....so im stuck waiting ....now im thinking i should have held on to my car ...
I wouldn’t worry about it to much at this stage. Those “two months” could easily go back to normal production dates after they settle this. I just think it’s too far out to judge it, especially claiming a two month delay.
dont worry, this wait is killing all of us early buyers...
The UAW and GM should return
A tentative agreement on Tuesday based on the news that broke yesterday. I’m not sure who the original poster spoke to had the correct information. My TPW is still 12/16..Maybe they’re going to run a few in December.
I am not sure why they would be delayed. The corvette plant is not scheduled, to start production until December. So with the cars not in production yet. Why a delay? Just asking, am I missing something?

The plant isn't going to re-tool itself. Deadlines were missed and projects were pushed back.

I think it’s because they’re not yet done producing the C7 commitments and then have to prepare for C8 production. The C8 mules and demos running around were sprinkled in on the same line, but I’m told mass production requires the process to be setup.
Seems odd that 3 weeks of strike would push back an order by 2 months. I wonder if one of the options on your order has become constrained due to a supplier issue.
which is why I'm worried.. why now are dealers giving away your allocations to cars that "can be built".. but now wont. most 1LT guys will be able to open up nov 1st. By the time this is over and retool they should be able to build it. right..........

My first Vette was a BB '69 built right after the '69 strike ended. It was a piece of ****. Everyhing broke on the car at least once. But, I guess I got a bad one. It happens.
