I expect the Z06 and ZR1 variants of the C8 to be a little more raw, little more loud, and probably a little more dramatic.

But I did buy a Viper and love it, Jimmy. . Love the raw visceral feel. Ordered the C8 with the Z51, 1lT, no mag ride. No fluff. 67 grand out the door.

Chevrolet is going to sell people the cars that they want...and that is for the most part a loaded vehicle, Apple car play/Kalahari seats/rear cameras/carbon fiber/nav radio/blah, blah. blah. Long long gone are the days of buying a base model/radio delete/side pipes/no ps/pb with the biggest engine that is offered

I like the direction the C8 Stingray took. If I could have a stable of cars then it might be different. But if I need to choose one road car then it needs to be a Grand Tourer. I want something that is quiet and comfortable for long causal drives or doing errands but can also attack a twisty road with confidence. I'm not looking for just a weekend toy.
Hopefully the GS and Z06 will be more of a raw experience for those that are looking for that.

I daily drive my corvettes either z06 or z51 manuals and im the first to admit the rear hatch or whatever harmonic noises are created can over long trips cause some degree of tiredness.

if GM corvette engineers can quiet down portions of the harmonics that we sometimes arent even aware exist with the exception that over a period of time wear us as drivers down...

im ok with their fine efforts.

quarter of a million miles over the past 2 decades of driving corvettes...

im glad the c8 engineers were able to decrease harmonics and still provide a sports car like the c8 that tears to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds..

Im all in with a c8 z51 fe4 1Lt...i want the go fast stuff and thats it.

Performance of a ferrari enzo wrapped up in a GM warranty ..Im golden.

my 500 hp 3100 lb c5 z06 was one of my favorite cars...cam, headers, 373 gears, short throw shifter...a very raw race car like driving experience. I fully expect to dig my c8 z51 fe4 even more.

Exactly.... if I could afford 10 cars it would be different. I can afford 2, my truck, and my "do everything" sports car. I love the fact that the Corvette can do so many things well. The modern mag ride really is amazing. That coupled with the adjustable exhaust and steering gives you multiple cars in one. Used to be if you wanted a trakday car it was stiff and loud all the time. Now, with the turn of a ****, I can go from a smooth/soft/quiet commute, to a trackday car. That's the real value.

It meets the wants and desires of the majority of the demographic that buys Corvettes. GM probably has a winner if the reliability and dealer service is good.

I will never understand the term "over refined" for a car. What that mean? The engineers did too good of a job? There is no such thing in my book.

On the surface it does sound like how could that be, but it is real especially with a sports car. Notice earlier in this thread someone mentioned Lotus, you feel like you are part of the car. To this day I have not had a car with better steering feel than my 944 Porsche back in the mid 80s, it wasn't even power assisted, but boy I learned what on center steering was and you could feel everything the tires were doing. A lot of the refinement insulates you from what the car is doing, when the first big Lexus cars came out there were drivers that had a flat tire and never knew it because everything was overly isolated and insulated from the driver. It's a fine line the manufacturers walk to keep the car engaging, yet smooth and quiet. They spend millions on NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) reduction.

I think the C8 is going to intimidate a lot of owners at 1st, me for one.

With the move to Mid-Engine, Torque based Engine, with close ratio transmission gearing, it should be fun to drive, if your willing to push your ability to handle it on a good curvy low traffic back-road(s) like we have in East Tennessee. I think it will lull some into thinking you/we no how to handle it, only to find out you/we don't. That's how good I think it is.

I already know, for the 1st time in my life, I need to go to driving school, because I think the C8 will lull you to sleep, based on watching some of the track test videos, were driver's all of a sudden realized they were close to loosing it, an if they had been less experienced drivers, they would have lost it. Like people who bought the Nissan GTRs did when they relied to heavily on it's computer controlled traction pkg. Know some who thought it was boring to drive because of that, an when back to a Vette.

I'm planning on going to Driving School, plus I'm going to do Track Day follow on training, with personal instructor.

I also have no problem with refined Street/Highway Ride aspect of the C8 either. In fact I think I'll appreciate it. My plan is for the C8 to be my main daily drivinerr. Not sure if it can replace my current weekend driver.

Just waiting to see.

No car can be all things to all people. No matter how good the C8 turns out to be, someone will find something to bitch about.

So far it's only been the back end, the front end, the tail lights, the interior buttons, the steering wheel, the dash, the gauges, the transmission controls, the transmission, the engine, the brakes, the rear wing, the muffler, the storage, the steering feel, the chassis setup, the wheels, the overall styling, the enhanced engine sound, the seat wear, the rear edge of the doors, the visibility, and the weight. Other than those few items, nobody has found much yet. I'm still waiting for the list of ME cars with this level of performance and quality at this price point...................seems pretty quiet on that.

The majority and magazine reviewers asked for more refinement and a more sophisticated driving experience over the C7, so that’s what was provided.

Pretty well in fact.

A good loud muscular exhaust like the Borla Atak or S Type with X Pipe that they had for the C7 will go a long way on the C8 to make it feel more raw and give the sensation of speed.. Of course the car is still so composed and planted but when you stab the gas and hear it roar to life then that will definitely bring back some thrill. Sounds like an old Mustang, drives like a new Ferrari

I don't think that a car can get too refined. I just think that you are getting to insulated in today's vehicles.
This is great for daily driving as you are exposed to a plethora of idiots on the road.
For driving, the modern car is a bit sterile feeling. Yep, they are fast, handle well and stop on a dime, all great things but the drive by the seat of your pants is gone
Still love my C7 and god willing I will enjoy my C8

Too much refinement = too much weight. The c8 is too heavy for me. I cant imagine the Z06 weight. Those expecting to track it will be going through a set of tires every 2 track days like the Camaro zl1 1le guys do.

I have c7 Z06. I track it extensively and my wallet can feel weight. But I like to cruise in it too.

The fact that the c7z is 400 lbs heavier than the c6z is pretty intense.

A c8 GS with a mid 500s hp NA engine would be neat. If GM can put In some lightweight parts that would be great.

No, I am holding out for a Z06, but even if I weren't, like my current C7 Z51 90% minimum of my miles are on the track.
I have a truck to get me from point A to point B. But to each their own, and God Bless America.
