Saying the C8R has anything in common with the C8 besides the basic chassis design is a massive stretch.

As far as comparisons to production vehicles go, pretty much every midengined car in the Corvette's weight/power range uses a 245 front/305 rear combo.

True - most do use the same tire combination, probably for the same reason, i.e. to ensure understeer!

We all know that a mid engine layout is superior to a front engine layout. Hence, mid engine Indy cars, F1 cars, etc... This being the case, don't some of you think that it is strange that FE Corvettes often beat some of the mid engine supercars at the track?

There is a simple answer for this. Most of the mid engine cars are not sold with optimized suspensions. Instead, their suspensions are tuned to understeer in order to prevent their owners from getting into trouble. However, the few cars that are setup with neutral handling do well against a FE Corvette. Likewise, if the C8 Z06's suspension is set up optimally, it will do better against the older Corvettes!
