I thought so, but how can I start the car from my office about 80 yards from where the car would be parked?

From the Online Order Guide Standard Equipment section:

Keyless Open and Start , includes 2 remote transmitters that enable automatic door unlock and open by touching door switch
Remote vehicle starter system
Both are standard on all versions.

Never been a big fan of remote start. Excessive idling isn't good for the motor. I would much rather be in the car when I fire it up.

You have to have an OnStar subscription to use the remote start app on your phone. It's free for the first month but after that you have to pay the minimum of $14.99/month to stay enrolled in OnStar. Kind of a shame because a few years ago the remote start app was free and you had access to it for five years on your GM vehicles. Guess OnStar wants to get their pound of flesh however they can.
The remote start app is really cool. I've actually started my Cadillac from the tarmac when my flight landed at the local airport so my car was all warmed up by the time I got my bags and got to my car. You're not limited by distances with it either. As a test, I started my daughter's Camaro and beeped her horn from Michigan when she lived in Las Vegas. Pretty cool being able to do that. So starting your C8 from 80 yards or more wouldn't be a problem.

That's because you bought your vehicle when they offered 5 years basic at no cost. They no longer have that on new vehicles.

It's not the warranty. For a few years, they offered a free Onstar Basic plan for 5 years that allowed things like remote start without a paid plan.

No need for that stuff. If the FOB doesn't work, put it to some liquid or your head and try again. Should work for a few hundred yards that way.

Send your secretary or office boy out to start it.
